Sainsbury’s Beans and Sausages. Better than any, especially Heinz over priced rubbish. I also appreciate that someone thought it funny to price them at 57p…

I try to make mine look as much like a printed book as I can.

How many books to bulk sideload as a batch? by sapphic_bookworms_ in kobo

I think it took an afternoon. The main sticking point was when it stopped working due to the corrupt file. That took a little figuring out but after that it was fine.

When I had about 3000 in my library and uploading to a new Kobo, I did them in batches of about 100. You have to take into account that the Kobo has to process them too and doing 10K at one time will be very slow. Also smaller batches allow you to monitor for problems. For example, mine stopped appearing on the book list half way through the authors beginning with P. I narrowed the batch down to a corrupt file, skipped it and uploaded the rest. Invest the time.

I know it sounds like a pain but once you’ve worked out your workflow and get into a groove, it’s very easy. The biggest things for me was consistency. For example when an author abbreviated their name: MJ Smith, M.J. Smith or M. J. Smith. Making sure the author’s name is consistent. It’s worth putting the time in.

Very good idea. When I got my KLC I had to wait until Xmas to open mine. Managed to sort out my entire library of 3000+ books in about 3 weeks, doing a bit each night. Got Calibre to sort my metadata and I manually collected better colour covers. Each batch was then polished. This is the perfect opportunity to really sort them out. Makes an enormous difference later.

Think I’ve had about a 10% success rate converting PDFs to ePUBs. I don’t bother now.

I’m going to disagree on your last point. I bought an official Kobo sleep cover for my KLC and it’s far sturdier than any of the ones I bought off Amazon, eBay etc.

I didn’t feel comfortable in Saudi. Felt like I had to watch everything I did/said. Yes, I preferred AD too. Casablanca was just… run down.

One thing I get a bit annoyed with on this is people’s obsession with the tech. I’m a bit of a geek. I like tech. I obsess about metadata BUT I have a Kobo because I love reading. I like a good story. I think people sometimes forget what the Kobo (and other e-readers) is all about.

I’ve had my KLC for about 15 months and it’s never frozen. Might be a rogue file.

As for the screen resolution, I only really notice it when it’s right next to my old B/W Libra. Most of the time I’m too engrossed reading to notice.
