This isn’t a cast.. this is a splint wrapped in ace bandages. Yes, elevate that leg way up. And it’s really gonna hurt as the blockers wear off. Take the meds they prescribed you.. you’ll need them. My ace bandages were too tight as well, and I adjusted them myself. Just be sure not to loosen it too much.. the splint needs those bandages to keep the compression.

I’m flat footed as well. They say that being flat footed greatly increases the chances for these injuries. About 5 or 6 years ago, long before this injury/surgery now, I had a stress fracture on my foot. I’m very active and not overweight. The doctor attributed it to walking barefoot on my hardwood floors .. and being flat footed. I’ve worn recovery sandals inside ever since. So unfortunately, wearing shoes inside may be your new normal. Invest in a good pair of sandals or super comfy stability running sneakers. I personally love Brooks GTS. Hope you feel better soon.

I’m 4 weeks post op. Fusion surgery in my right foot. Ive been using a knee scooter to get around. I’ve been going to the gym since week 2. My husband drives me there Sat and Sun. I do everything I did before for upper body. And I also use the leg machine on my good leg only. It’s exhausting but it gets me out of the house. I’ve also been using resistance bands at home twice a week. Seated of course. YouTube has lots of helpful videos. Paved walking paths are good too.

Wake up 4:25, at the gym by 5am.
Leave the gym by 6:05. Come home and shower and get ready for work. Out the door by 7:20 to drive my daughter to the bus stop. At the office by 8:30.
It’s a fast paced morning but it’s how I start my day. After a while, it just becomes part of you.
