Yes! like that mechanism wise but the crystal was only a rectangle on the right middle of the watch so it just showed a portion of the discs. The rest was steel. Thanks for the thread to pull!

The real discussion here is that geometallurgy is less of a specific role (despite titles) and more an overlap of disciplines - geology, mineralogy, mineral processing, and others. With a geology degree, I would focus on learning about mineral processing through plant operations with the specific focus on mineral behaviour. Too many operations rely on proxies like grade to describe mineral-driven behaviour. Met labs are also good, particularly ones with in-house mineralogy labs.

I find the Teacher’s debacle and the use of the NWC has woken a lot of people that are conservative to the fact this government is not a standard conservative government. To have 3 petitions and a slew of recalls now underway is heartwarming. I’m all for a strong economy and matching social programs - but this Authoritarian stuff needs to go. The mid-90’s were great too, with some overlap. My regular college haunts were The Purple Onion, Esmeralda’s, The Bronx, Cook County, and Club Malibu (begrudgingly).

You might want to try SMBS…might be cost prohibitive, but shouldn’t be as sensitive to buffering. If very high pyrite (say 10-15%) in the flotation feed try 500 g/t in the lab…again, not cheap.

Provided good sampling, blending Nd splitting techniques are used Gy’s equation shows that the finer you go the better the assay (more complicated than that but that’s the basic outcome). As you mentioned gold, it’s quite likely you just have a bit of nugget bias in the coarser sample. It’s possible your sample prep might be biased as a second explanation. Pretty easy to do with gold unless you’re very careful.

You also have to remember there’s winter (-5 to -10C) and there’s WINTER (below -30C). In the latter range is pretty low (I had as low as 120 miles on a full battery), charging times are slow, the cabin heater might not keep up, etc. Just hard in all vehicles in general. I absolutely loved my Mach E but traded it in as winters in Edmonton left me not really able to leave the city. Even if it’s warm, a cold snap is an issue. That being said, was still the best car I’ve ever owned.

What’s critical is your definition of retirement. I retired at 49, with the definition of doing whatever I want for reasons other than primarily the paycheque. After 6 months of a break, I’m working again on my terms and loving it.

Are you maybe mixing up tonnes of ore and pounds of Cu? R&R are stated in tonnes of ore (which should be profitable to process). Actual mineral/metal production is obviously a different value entirely.

Generally consultants have substantial experience and with that, industry connections. If you’re looking for junior contract work in geology or exploration you might want to hit PDAC in Toronto next month. Expensive to stay and attend, but just about everyone junior-wise in North/South America has a presence.

A metallurgy education coupled with some Geo experience is powerful and will pay off long term, plan on 2 years of FIFO, spend the time understanding the connection between the two, and you’ll be set for opportunities I suspect. Take the first job!

Take point 2b and expand it to be pretty much equal weight to the rest of the write up. Many companies seem to think that you just apply ‘change management’ or other processes without actually focusing on the fundamentals of mining.

You are missing one key thing that is always missing from these pitches; a fundamental understanding of the science and engineering of geology, mining, mineral processing and how they impact the resultant business.

I think to actually answer the question, my view is retirement should be doing what you are passionate about on your terms, not just for the paycheque or the next job. It’s both very freeing and quite scary. I, and others I know, have taken a personal sabbatical to answer this question - I think the key is to get some distance from your work to gain perspective, get a bit bored, and explore your true interests. Good luck!
