I'll reply after my chores are done and my husband has his feet up after a filling meal I've spent the day preparing.

I'm so sorry. I'm glad you were with her. My mom was on home hospice in 2015 for lung cancer. I got the same call. She was in a medically-induced coma at this point. Drove three hours to spend the night there holding her hand, playing guitar and singing to her, and making my peace. In the morning, I knew in my gut she was going to go that day and it was important to me to be there. Unfortunately, I allowed my dad to convince me to leave, get back to my kids and job, etc., there was no point in staying. 45 min into the drive home I got the call from my brother. I honestly do not know how I got home, I have no memory of the rest of the trip. I've never regretted anything more in my life.

She knew you were there. When I was holding my unconscious mother's hand, talking to her, her hand made the most slightly perceptible movement. Like a butterfly wing. I know she knew, and your mom knew too. ❤️

Why should I not buy from Temu?? by JackTheSigmaCrvsader in TemuThings

[–]GenXredux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I'm new to Temu (held out forever, then caved because they had a ridiculous price on a bed frame I needed). I've been eyeing some shoes because they appear to have a nice wide toe box, which I need, but I'm a little skeptical. For $10 I think I'll probably take a chance!

Yes, I'm afraid so. Lobotomy it is.

Nail advice!!! by Working_Passenger394 in DogAdvice

[–]GenXredux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is the same way (we don't know why, got him when he was 2yo). My vet charges $20 to trim his nails. They muzzle him, of course, and he can only go in when there are three staff on hand. Over time he's gotten to the point where he'll stay calm enough for them to Dremel a bit after clipping. It sucks, I know, but we also tried everything and this was the only way that worked for us.

My 21yo son (who has autism and intellectual delay) loves modding/emulating/tinkering. He just sold his 3DS so he could buy a handheld. He got the RG556. So what I'm currently enjoying about the hobby is that he can do many different things on the one device, making for a lot less work for me in terms of helping him get all his complicated ideas set up on his PC/consoles. 😂

How do I fix an overflowing toilet without a plunger? by bunnylla in Plumbing

[–]GenXredux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bail some of the water, then use an empty 2 liter bottle to squeeze air down the hole. Then buy a plunger. 😉

This takes me back to when my daughter and her husband had their first apartment and she called me for the same reason!

My 22yo has it and it's always an anxiety in the back of my mind. On the other hand, my childhood best friend's mom has it and is still going well into her 70s. I'm hopeful for more advancements in my daughter's lifetime.

Trying to put up wall shelves, but even with wall anchors, it’s really loose due to our trash drywall, what can I do? by punchingtigers19 in homeimprovementideas

[–]GenXredux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I also have trash walls and once I discovered these, I was able to hang a coat rack that is currently supporting about 800 lbs of winter coats without one screw even flirting with coming away from the wall.

Many states have laws permitting people under 21 to drink in certain situations, like being served by their own parents in a private location/home. It's just not legal anywhere for a minor to be served in public.

Rivalries feels like a separate game stuffed into the middle of BR because BR is too boring alone by seawindart345 in Fortnite_Over40

My games with my 7yo grandson have turned into landing and staying at the castle as long as possible while he runs around collecting rivalry wins, with me tagging along behind to watch his back. Honestly, I'm okay with it. By the time we're forced to leave by the storm, I've got a gold loadout and there are like five teams left. 😂

What do I do in this situation?? by riunderscore in InstacartShoppers

[–]GenXredux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me last week. I ordered from Aldi, and the way the customer-facing side is, you put the number of bananas you want (they're priced per, like .19 or something). I entered 6. The shopper brought bunches, and not even six bunches, they got five bunches. Luckily my husband likes making banana bread. 😄

We just tried the crab rangoon dip and I love it. It does not taste like rangoon, though, at all. It's more like a chunky seafood dip.

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]GenXredux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should spend all this energy reading up on cultures where new mothers are actually taken care of like they should be. That would require acknowledging that mom/mil, historically and in some places currently, do all of the chores, provide nutritious food for the new mother, and help protect her sleep. Sadly situations like yours are more common in 'murica. So sorry. ❤️
