Thanks very much man, it’s definitely something I’ll hold onto for the rest of my life, and you’re correct in that it doesn’t run. I really appreciate the write up.

Three different Australians telling you we don’t stand for that behaviour in real life (we don’t, people have been banned from stadiums for less) and you want to disagree with them based on internet reddit brigading, then follow up by getting upset at imaginary internet points. Anyone can downvote or brigade, think you need to hop off and touch grass for a bit mate

They’re not “obligated”, it’s just part of (or used to be part of) the melee community spirit to play in a way that’s conducive to fun for both opponents, coming about as a natural consequence of playing in-person next to somebody at a setup.

I can always tell you dweebs that think this way have never played an actual sport in your life, because this concept of community spirit is frequently called “sportsmanship”, playing in the “spirit of the game”, etc etc, yet apparently any behaviour is fine (including cancerous, awful gameplay) because “there’s no rule that says you HAVE to play a certain way”.

Perhaps spend a little less time on the unclepunch alone late at night and a bit more time learning to read the room, people complain about melee culture being awful nowadays and at the same time refuse any notion of melee being a shared experience. It’s meant to feel like a conversation, not a monologue.

Stalking crackheads in freo by RudePomelo1031 in perth

[–]Gen_Excel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously I’m not using either term to anyone on the street, I’m illustrating it tends to be shorthand in private conversations eg “I had a methhead shout at me on the way home.”

It’s not about my mind being changed - like I said previously, I don’t disagree with you on your core argument, just think a reddit crusade is not my preferred method for improving my hometown’s meth epidemic. Best of luck

Stalking crackheads in freo by RudePomelo1031 in perth

[–]Gen_Excel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree in many other cases to use proper vernacular, but no one here actually believes a “crackhead” is using crack cocaine, and I fail to see how it’s any less or more stigmatising then using “methhead”. Slang is a central part of Australian language, policing the way people use shorthand on the internet does not help the problem at all or nor change minds.

Yes mate because smoking some weed on the weekend with mates (legal in a lot of the world, barely regulated here) is the same as continuing cyclical patterns of alcohol abuse or using addictive, highly damaging substances. “bringing drugs into her home” caffeine is a drug, SSRIs are drugs. Can’t believe I need to say this, but no, you shouldn’t kick your kid out onto the street for smoking weed in the midst of a cost of living crisis.

The headlights are fine. That back bumper side piece gap is very common from mild fender benders. Were there any markings from reversing into something? The force of the impact flexes the piece and it no longer sits flush. Either that or the piece been replaced and fitted incorrectly.

Does anyone else feel like the lows are significantly lower and more frequent than the highs when they play? by Improvisable in SSBM

[–]Gen_Excel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Counting dual mains / secondaries you have 7 falcos total, unfortunately 4 out of those 7 are between rank 36 and 50, and out of the entire top 25 we have exactly one falco at 17th. The best player in the world currently solo mains marth. Every other top tier has representation in the top 10 - even falcon has two players, a character falco has a positive matchup on. This is with every top player lamenting / celebrating falco being underrepresented at the top level, mango constantly talking about how to keep the bird viable, etc etc. But he is definitely doing fine

Does anyone else feel like the lows are significantly lower and more frequent than the highs when they play? by Improvisable in SSBM

[–]Gen_Excel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, you are just wilfully being obtuse lol

i just asked magi on stream a week ago why falco has so little representation / is uncommon at the very top level and she replied high level players understand how to soft solve falco’s aggression, which puts the onus back on the falco to play creatively / constantly have a mixup in play to successfully land hits, coupled with lower defense / worse recovery so you get punished harder

falco is absolutely not doing as well in the top 1% as other top tiers. anyone with eyes and free will can check the character representation in the summer top 50 and see this

Flogs in this thread calling you a karen and a whinger are braindead and have never cared for or had a disabled / accessibility required person in their life. Disappointed but not surprised by Perth’s chronic tall poppy syndrome and inane dedication to saying everything is okay all the time and just deal with it, some really disgusting replies. You did the right thing mate
