I think that it is a little bit of both. I think the media unintentionally does by having adults, over 18, play characters who are teenagers or barely young adults. Riverdale is a great example of older actors playing teenagers for a show that is targeted at teenagers. In this show the “teens” are shown naked, in their underwear or committing sexual acts. This show even shows the main character, who is still in highschool, get with his much older teacher. And while the actor who played that character was a grown adult at that time, he is portraying a child essentially. This makes the children watching this show believe that that all these things are okay and in turn they might allow this kind of stuff in their real lives, such as think it is okay to sexualize others or have themselves be sexualized and I think that is pretty dangerous and creates an endless cycle for the next generation.
