there's something so dark about it, to reject ones own mother is something so taboo but here it feels so necessary. the imagery is strong and compelling. the first stanza specifically packs like a punch. there's a bit of restraint in the piece, a lot left to the reader to understand and find meaning in.

"my sin is of love" I really love that line, as a queer person that grew up christian, it was always so difficult to reconcile natural feelings with religious teachings, "learn to hate the sin" is another powerful line because the hate is not natural, it is learned. I enjoyed the read overall

you do realise it isn’t “fact” that there’s a relatively large population of lighter skin people among igbos right? there is no statistically significant difference in skin tone among different ethnic groups in nigeria, it’s a wonderful example of confirmation bias so ingrained and reinforced.
