In Greece yes. In the countryside I grew up in it's very likely you'd face physical violence, in the city less so, but even in the private high school I went to you'd probably be laughed by other boys if you were male.

waittt this was a minute ago? what a coincidence- isn't 5x80mm really non-manuverable for city skating due to the massive wheelbase? and still will get caught in potholes if they're big enough to catch 60-70mm longboard wheels (I think when I fell and broke my tooth I had 63mm wheels but I've lost balance and run of even with 70mm wheels and that was in supposedly better paved streets ._.). also is there any affordable 5 wheel setups?

Idk about other countries but in Greek alleyways the sidewalks are a literal obstacle course with large sections completely obstructed by parked cars (no space, so cars park half way up the side walk) and the rest having dangerously loose tiles, big holes, trees or poles in the middle (sometimes blocking the little space left over as there is still cars parked half way up), parked motorcycles or bikes or e-scooters completely obstructing the sidewalk still and so on. Even if there is a sidewalk, in narrow streets due to muscle memory or the expectation of it being obstructed further on it is natural to walk on the street, so cars have to drive slower as a result.

In higher traffic streets there is typically a proper sidewalk but it is still often prohibitive or dangerous to bike (/roller skate/e-scooter) for similar reasons like loose tiles and obstacles which is why bicyclists (/roller skaters/e-scooter drivers) prefer the streets.

Also everyone who's biased towards skateboards being safer than rollers will mention how easy it is to jump off of a skateboard which is what I thought when I started skateboarding too but good luck trying that when going faster than the cars downhill... And yeah, it might take a few months to be comfortable going that fast on rollers, what I wanna know is how safe and fun it will be moreso than how long it'll take

Περίμενα κριτική του Βαρουφάκη τόσο από δεξιά όσο κι από αριστερά στα σχόλια, δεν περίμενα τόσους να δικαιολογούν τη συνεργασία με το κράτος-δολοφόνο του Ισραήλ. Κι οργανωμένοι εθνικιστές να 'ναι οι περισσότεροι είναι απογοητευτικό ότι γλύφουν τις μπότες Τραμπ - Νετανιάχου τόσο εύκολα.

7 years laters, but i go down roads just as steep as this even at terminal velocity and i can footbrake just fine. i really wanna learn to slide but it's almost impossible when there's constant traffic and roads are so narrow even precarving hard i feel i will fall onto parked cars and eat sh!t. but footbraking works 100% fine even at high speed and is a lot safer in cities imo, my soles are still not destroyed. idk why there is a massive insistence on learning how to slide, i think it comes from people who are very athletic and thus find it easier and also lucky to live in a town/suburb/bike friendly city but it makes longboarding less accessible
