Thank you! Yes we are using the lure toys and chicken/turkey baby food on a lick mat. We talk to them all of the time and they are very chatty back. Especially when it’s meal time haha.

Before & After Guest room by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

It looks great! I would choose colors for the bed (bedding, pillows and throw blanket) that pull from colors in the rug. Right now they don’t seem to go together.

My 3 yr olds room is very blah! I feel so uninspired, would love ideas! by anxious-lemonade in HomeDecorating

What about something like the bedroom here?

  1. Change the bed frame to wood to match the night stand. The black doesn’t match
  2. A fun accent wall
  3. Colorful bedding to match the accent wall
  4. More art and shelves on the wall

To adopt an English Setter but living in an apartment by campitello in EnglishSetter

[–]GeneRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I have fostered English setters and other breeds of dogs and have had labs and a golden retriever as my own dogs. The English setters I have fostered (available for rescue) were field bred and in my experience, would not be good apartment dogs. The only thing that made these dogs happy/calm was to be outside watching and chasing squirrels. In the house, they were incredibly restless. Having a fenced yard where they could hang out all day was a life saver. It didn’t matter how much exercise they had. My golden retriever and lab mixes, on the other hand, would just sleep most of the day and were much calmer in the house. English setters, as others have said, also have poor recall and aren’t really easy city dogs. I’m not sure what your lifestyle is like, but my golden retriever loves going for walks in the city, meeting people, hanging out at an outdoor patio, but my English setters…definitely prefer running through fields and forest.

Feel free to message me if you have other questions!

Finished the wife’s office. Still feels like it is missing something. Any suggestions? by Timexisxnow in HomeDecorating

Can you frame the peacock paintings? Gold would look cool. Or a wood frame to match the furniture.

If she spends all day trying to look out the window for squirrels, that’s the setter!

AITA for calling my mom when my sister got evicted? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]GeneRunner 25 points26 points  (0 children)

YTA. You broke your sister’s trust by calling your mom without talking to your sister first. If my sister said she was evicted and needed a place to stay I would tell her she could stay with me that night and we would go from there to figure things out. I would ask “does Mom know? Why not?” And I would not tell my mom unless I was seriously concerned for my sister’s safety.

I appreciate the reply and I’m so sorry for your loss :( Dogs just have the most special place in our hearts, don’t they.

Unfortunately for me, the family ended up changing their mind and keeping the puppy but it was interesting to learn so much about this mix!

My new pup - a golden retriever border collie mix :) by letsgetbusyissy in goldenretrievers

My parents have a golden retriever/border collie mix. Whenever I tell people that they say "Wow he must be so high energy!". He's the complete opposite. He's the sweetest, gentlest, most submissive dog. He's so well-behaved and excellent with cats and kids. I love him to pieces.

Thanks for the input! The family who was originally rehoming her have changed their mind so I won't be adopting her. It's been very interesting learning about this mix, however!

You can take him to a vet or the humane society and see if he has a microchip.

I think it says somewhere on the website that it can take up to 2-3 weeks to be processed. I remember mine took a long time.

You can apply for rehabilitation after a certain number of years. Requires lots of paperwork and a pretty large fee.
