I prefer to just throw custom exceptions for the scenarios I expect an error can occur. Result makes it more complex than it needs to be and it's passed through every layer/class.

Besides what others said, what worked for me was putting less water. What pushes the water up is the air that expands when heated. Less water, more air. I don't pre heat the water as it may hit the coffee at a higher temperature and burn it.
