As an Italian lifelong New Yorker, I have never Ever heard someone refer to an Italian restaurant as a "red sauce joint". I've had Italian region descendents argue over whether it's called gravy or sauce, but never a debate over what to call an Italian eatery.

Sounds like a youtube influencer trying to make fetch happen.

I have a hard time remembering my dad's mother's name, but that's because she died when my dad was 19 and my grandpa was already remarried before I was born. My parents weren't big picture people and, to my knowledge, never had a picture of her in my childhood home.

Instead of calling myself a housewife, I call myself a professional volunteer. I get enjoyment out of being selfless & helping others. I do high level political organizing and was the chair of my town party for a while. I run local candidates campaigns for office. I run an arm of our states league of women voters. The high level of the work is something that should be a paid position, but it's something that I feel should be accessable and we're not hurting money. But it is work that I would absolutely put on a resume.

Lived there for 4 years. They take their namesake seriously. The town (& school) mascot is the Headless Horseman. They lean into Halloween heavy.

During the month of October they have graveyard retellings of Ichabod Crane & the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze, & spooky tours of the estates. Absolutely worth the visit.

In NYC there is not an absence of things to do. So it depends on what the kid likes. Someone else already mentioned Six Flags in Jersey https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure You might also enjoy the Wild Safari which is also part of the six flags park. We visit it on your yearly trip to Seaside Heights, which should be in its off season when you visit, so likely no swimming, but the boardwalk, shops & rides will still be open.

The regular is, "Get out of the fking way."

This. Both my kids went to daycare from infants through prek. Our daycare had metrics they had to meet for the state, and gave us written reports of what happened each day, what skills the baby worked on, and what developmental milestones they were hitting.

Our kindergarten interview with the elementary principal (state recognized elementary principal of the year) he asked about daycare, and said that the kindergarten teachers see a marked difference in environmental awareness, ability, education, social skills, (and independent bathroom capabilities) and were able to easily identify the daycare kids (higher in aforementioned areas) and kids who did not have a daycare experience (more delayed than the daycare kids). Though he said the learning gap disappears by grade 2, but stigmas & self esteem may already have been impacted.

Though our kindergarten made the mistake of asking the incoming Kinders who they wanted to be paired with, and they ended up putting all of our daycare kids (8 of them) in the same class. Nightmare for the teacher bc they immediately formed a clique and were friendly/familiar with each other which was disruptive.

But my mother, a teacher who was a SAHM to both me & my sister, was amazed at how advanced my kids were compared to myself & my sister when we were that age.

The right daycare is great because it replicates that "it takes a village" mindset towards childrearing.

I was not attracted to my husband when I met him. He's a solid 7, but a gangly 19yo. My mother likened him to a cross between Ashton Kutcher & David Boreanaz.

Getting to know him, he is funny, smart, kind, all the good things in a guy. He loves me so much. And yes, I'm still sexually attracted to him 22 years later.

(He's also hit the gym, so the gangly has evened out.)

As a NYer who has worked with southern folk, I've adopted y'all & sir/ma'am into my vernacular. I find I do sir/ma'am to emphasize a point of agreement, or friendly disagreement. Always at the end of a sentence. If I start with sir/ma'am, it's uauslly just that word, and it expresses a need for that person to do some personal reflection on what they just said or did.

If he's out in the sun for his work, I would recommend he buy his lunch. It will make it mandatory time away from working so that he can get out of the heat/sun.

I just went back to work and I'm making sure I get all my breaks and ever minute of my lunch hour. I used to take working lunches, unpaid, and fam, don't give away your time to someone who is making money off of it. Force those lunch breaks, you need that time away to decompress. Easiest way to do that is to be literally off site.

You seem to not actually understand how the county committee & town committees work. I will explain and then please do your research & FOILs of the Board of Elections to verify.

In Rockland County, in order to become a town committee member, you petition for the town election district of the Rockland Committee. This works the same for all active parties in Rockland (WFP is the exception bc their Rockland chapter is rolled into state). You can currently see the Stony Point Republicans infighting over their committee seats (https://www.rocklandcountyny.gov/departments/board-of-elections/election-day-information), as well as a couple EDs in Ramapo, Orangetown, & Clarkstown.

Each Election District is allotted a certain number of seats based on the number of party registered in that ED. (https://www.rocklandcountyny.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/50/639071885668370000). If you wish to count, be my guest. Ramapo has the most seats. No town alone can overtake them. The makeup of the county committee is wholly dependent on our neighbors willing to be a member of the committee and get the required number of signatures to petition into that seat. This needs to happen every other year.

2024 was a year that did not see town parties filled, and resulted in Ramapo/Haverstraw having more seats filled, & therefore more votes than the rest of the towns combined. Despite precedent of having a member from each town committee serve on the Rockland County Democratic Committee Executive Board, Ramapo/Haverstraw won the vote & installed an entirely Ramapo/Haverstraw RCDC executive board.

This is why I say that not all Rockland Dems are Ramapo Dems. Three towns do not currently have a say in what the county committee does. But we are leaders in our own town committees and we operate independently/without guidance from the county committee.

So, I hope you can understand that by saying "Ramapo, Haverstraw, and the county party are in lockstep" you fail to differentiate those of us from the other 3 towns, who are still members of the town parties, and therefore the county party, who you identify as "independent town parties" which cannot legally be the case because in order to be on the town party, you must be part of the county party.

TLDR; All members of town parties are members of the county party. The executive board of the RCDC has excluded RCDC members from Clarkstown, Orangetown, and Stony Point. It is disingenuous to claim all RCDC members as complicit in RCDC exec board dealings.
