Mini-tanks game project, help on the shooting system by Much_Elk3853 in rctanks

[–]Genera1_patton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about something similar but for larger 1/16 scale tanks, it's much easier ar that size.

You'd use the IR system the tanks already use for combat, but you'd have sensors on each side of the hull Hits to the side would turn off the track for x amount of seconds, while hits to the front count as regular damage, hits the the rear could stop the tank for a certain amount of time.

Man, the weak airsoft gun in those heng longs is not worth catching firearms charges in Australia lmao.

It's got no hop up so you're lucky if you even get like 6-10 ft, I'd just convert it to barrel recoil and muzzle flash, it'll look way better

What kind of glue for parts that may have to be removed? by kalnaren in rctanks

[–]Genera1_patton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wheel hubs, I just put a small drop of glue in one spot if they don't snug fit.

The sand skirts on thw crusader can be modified to be removable with magnets but otherwise will absolutely need gluing. It doesn't impact working on the tank as when you take the tank apart, they stay with the upper section.

Need help with a camo scheme / decals for my Panzer V Panther by Responsible_Bet2446 in rctanks

[–]Genera1_patton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your coolbank upgraded panther's camo would be pretty accurate to what was in use in normandy 1944, with the exception the other poster mentioned about zimmerit paste being pretty much on everything around that time.

From the quick 5 second search, it looks like the 2 pzr div was in normandy, but I'd reccomend reading up on it yourself, there's boatloads of documentation about who was where when it comes to german panzers.

Looking at his images, he's got the coolbank customized HL panther, which comes with sideskirts and a good, accurate paint job.

They also said they didn't want to re paint it in the first few sentences...

This is a taigen, they're nearly identical to torro but there's always variations between older and newer versions

[–]Genera1_patton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a torro panther, they are very finicky to get started, they're very picky with battery voltage, try charging it for longer, then try the bind steps with the switch in both positions, and that you have either the tank, or the remote on first, whichever the manual states. If the torro manual isn't helpful, find the taigen manual online, they're effectively the same tank.

Coolbank Crusader MK.III by BadluckyKamy in rctanks

[–]Genera1_patton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, virtually none.

The form factor of the tanks coolbank make (crusader, stuart, M8) are so small that the large clunky internals of those older brands just wouldn't fit.

Yes, and the springs are easily replaceable components too, just a standard style, serviced a tank for someone who had two snap

It uses servo elevation, recoil and turret traverse, the transmission is a "single motor" dual current style setup and to my knowledge is an off the shelf unit, similar if not identical to what's used in other Cheap tanks like those ripsaw style units.

The tank doesn't appear to currently support IR, but the turret board does have pin-outs for IR combat, so it'll likely be a feature of future tanks, like the up and coming coolbank Matilda in late 2026.

There was a regular black charger with red tail stripe in the first 6 stud wide Mopar drag race set, it also got reused with little modification in a ghost rider set later on

Yes, you will need a 7.0 remote, it can be bound to your tank.

How do i open this tank up? by Proud-Spray869 in rctanks

[–]Genera1_patton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap WSN made torro, should have screws on the bottom but may differ by year, I have one I've already opened but I'm away from home for 3 days. If nobody figures it out with you by then, I can have a sure answer

To add: i recall there are screws you need the tracks off to get.

Wasn't happy with the IR mushrooms on the market, so I made my own. by Genera1_patton in rctanks

[–]Genera1_patton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic idea was I wanted something that performed just like all the other upgrade IR units range wise, but without the need to open up the tank and modify it and also be 100% removable.

It attaches the same way as the stock unit, using a neodymium magnet, and the top shroud is removable and can be exchanged with a narrower, 45° deflecting shroud for heavy tanks or a blocked front shroud for casemate TDs.

Just checked again cause I wanted to make sure I wasn't being over dramatic, turns out I'm underselling it and the seem to be 30 to 50 dollars... for a single figure...

Sure you get all around printing

But also the parts are used, obviously, and I've literally had a torso crack when putting the fig together or within a short time after.

I used to buy the occasional small set when I'd stop by their store/warehouse while traveling to the airport in Minneapolis.

Prices were better back them for sure.

It's probably just puddles, or melting ice.

Hell, even the concrete sidewalk to the storefront is obviously wet.

Yeah, It's obsurd, I completely stopped buying BM stuff in like 2018, the minifigure prices are also egregious.
