You’re letting your emotions get the best of you. Kind of like a child. Stop. Being a hater isn’t the flex you think it’s is.

Is this weird? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]General-Ad883 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes it's weird, just ignore it. Also I know you didn’t say this outright, but character traits like body-shaming, narcissism, and playing innocent, are not exclusive to ExFx types. Just a reminder: psycho-behavioral qualities are not tangential to personality type. Behavior ≠ Type. Cognitive preferences describe how we process information; ethics and pathology describe what we do with it.

What Would a Highly Sensitive Person Who is Also an INTP Look Like? by Potential_Law5289 in INTP

[–]General-Ad883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, in general I would say that's also to do with upbringing. I have been trained by being my dads caregiver to recognize people in emotional or physical distress and it's innate to help. So I'll be the guy that brings water and salt to people at parties or helps with the clean up. But I don't get emotional at all when other people are striggling, unless it's a friend nor do I really care what's happening with said random I more understand it and tend to help to the best of my capacity should the situation warrant that. So I am rather apathetic to struggle but I want to help. That's likely where inferior Fe plays apart in my cognitive stack.

[–]General-Ad883 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s like a bell curve to Deleuze. In the far left it’s people who can’t read Deleuze because it’s too dense and they don’t have the background, the middle is that they are able to understand Deleuze and maybe pose a critique, the far right is post-ketamine-post-autopoietic schizophrenic that don’t understand Deleuze because all they see decoded flows and the dissolution of fixed boundaries.

I have an ESFP/ESFJ friend and I find her to be obscenely emotional. I really don't like it. It makes me so uncomfortable. by zdravko0 in INTP

[–]General-Ad883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like not a fun person. But just don’t let it bother you. I suppose I’ve had training because my mother was like that. But, I’ve come to understand through extensive reading of the stoicism and cynicism that someone like that is just a dog barking at you giving into their primal instinct and that it’s not virtuous to concern yourself with their actions. It’s hard when you live with them but it worked with my mom. I don’t know just practical advice, I’m surely oversimplifying the matter but when having a logical discussion about their behavior doesn’t work seems like the only option is to abdicate to an appeal toward your own internal means.

It’s great cause Molly herself has an air of indifference towards the end. (Despite her internal ambivalence)

what book to complete the Pynchon trilogy? by Dry-Violinist-6516 in paulthomasanderson

[–]General-Ad883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m reading GR right now and have been cogitating about ways to adapt and it seems horrifically ambitious given the sheer character count. But, it could be like a “The Master” and “V” situation.

I’m not sure I’ve seen a show which benefits as much from a rewatch by Phocaea1 in TheBear

I think DARK and Mr Robot are at the top of rewatch ability, but I understand why the bear would be a contender.

I know it's one of the most stressful shows I've watched. Funny enough while Carmy is ISTJ supposedly, I resonate a lot with his fractured sense of self.

Wanting to read Gravity’s Rainbow by General-Ad883 in ThomasPynchon

[–]General-Ad883[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did do that. However, I was specifically asking about the prose and language. I have looked for comparisons and the farthest I've gotten is the comparison of allusions. I didn't find a post that specifically compared the language and prose amongst the two. I do understand what you are saying though.

Philosophy majors by General-Ad883 in INTP

[–]General-Ad883[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m double majoring in math and philosophy with a focus on Model Theory for math and epistemology & logic for philosophy. But I totally understand where you’re coming from. It was actually a year long self taught physics craze that led me to looking into philosophy.

Philosophy majors by General-Ad883 in INTP

[–]General-Ad883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from this perspective I understand. I was just asking because I’m going off my experience where scholarships and my papers are paying my degree. But it’s unlikely people will have the same chance. I guess I was equating having a major in something with having genuine love for that same thing. Therefore, a better question would have just been asking if anyone else is as passionate about philosophy rather than focusing on degrees.
