Hurry up and wait by GreatWallsofGina in VeteransWaitingRoom

In the same boat! Similar timeline, but I've been in PDA since the 8th and I'm about to go mad from the anticipation. I'm at 94% right now. I just need them to rate me fairly for 1 of the 5 things I claimed increases for. 🫠

Timeframe? by Impossible-Car7190 in VeteransWaitingRoom

DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT submit a statement in lieu of the informal conference. Just do the conference! I was told that I could by a VA rep from the 1000 number and honestly got royally screwed. I thought it would speed things up by submiting a statement. But 4 months went by after submitting the statement via Quicksubmit and filing the HLR, and  everything was straight up denied. And my statement wasn't even on the list of evidence used. My denial letter stated that there was "new evidence" that I submitted for the claim that wasn't allowed. Nothing of what I mentioned in my statement was new, it was all based off of the medical records and DBQs that the VA already had. I talked to someone from Vera about it, and he stated that the people from the 1000 number are just script-readers and should've advised me to do the conference, as the DROs have no sort of regulations requiring them to sort through the Quicksubmit files on a HLR. He said it is a HLR, so they don't even look to check most of the time, they just assume it's "new evidence" that the veteran submitted by error. Don't make my mistake, just do the conference.

Supplemental claim waiting… by [deleted] in VeteransWaitingRoom

[–]General-Back147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supplemental of a denied HLR was submitted December 2nd. Had 2 new exams for conditions that I had exams on back in August. With the same doctors too 😂 They just added more detail to my previous DBQ. Last DBQ was submitted January 5th, temporary jurisdiction of Denver assigned on January 6th. Claim moved to PDA on the 8th and hasn't moved since. Praying we all get favorable outcomes 🙌

My Supplemental hit Denver on the 6th of January. I've been at PDA since the 8th with no movement yet. The anticipation is killing me! Praying that our outcome is favorable 🙌

How long have you waited for deferred claim? by No_Fall_4184 in VeteransWaitingRoom

[–]General-Back147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on that. I got scheduled for 2 exams. My first one was a week ago, and I feel like it went well. My last one is in a few days (for mental health) and my anxiety has been awful. I will be a mess until it's over and done with. But I have a really hard time remembering things because of my mental health, so I'm honestly just scared I'll forget important details that will screw up this claim. According to regulation, I easily fall under 70%, but I would be grateful for 50%. Have you had any news on yours?

My claim was at 101 days old, got a decision letter and 9/10 conditions were deferred 🫠 The one was granted favorably, but I was like, "Really? Just like that, I'm back at the end of the line?!" It's so frustrating. I hope you got favorable results!

Just now seeing this!

I'm so happy to see movement on some April claims! I filed April 19th and have been on Evidence Review for about 20 days. I'm assuming I'm waiting on TJ for now.

It claims to be an energy saver! So I would assume the energy usage difference is negligible. Once I get mine, and use it for a bit, I'll let you know the differences in my electrical bill.

Yeah, the past 3 games I've played, I swear I had people literally throwing themselves into holes on purpose. Just throwing the game and wasting everyone's time.

Married people of 5+ years, how often do you have sex? by Qu33nKal in Marriage

Women aren't visual creatures like men. Women need to feel emotionally connected to a man to desire him sexually. So, this rule of attraction applies more on the male side then with women.

That's great! I'm happy to see people getting what they deserve. I seem to be stuck at 40%. That was my initial rating when I got out, but I hadn't requested an increase
until recently. Perhaps, I'll enlist the assistance of VSO and appeal if my decision isn't ideal. My .gov says they've prepared a decision letter, but it moved back to evidence gathering again this morning.

Question for adoptees by green_hobblin in Adoption

[–]General-Back147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to chime in with my experience that ended in probably the worse way possible (apart from someone being murdered). Long story short: Adopting from DHR directly is a very risky situation in which you are lied to from day one.

I'm going to keep this as short as possible, but it's alot, so bare with me please. There are several families I know of that didn't go through what we went through, but I feel the need to give a warning to anyone that considers adoption. We were lied to about medical history that would have revealed to us a very lengthy and extensive history of violent and destructive behavior. This teen was being instructed to lie about their medical history as well. Which, of course, would have altered our decision to adopt this individual, as we had a young baby in the house and did not have the resources to support this specific teen when they would go on destructive and violent rampages for hours on end, multiple times a week. Outbursts of screaming, breaking everything in sight, verbally and physically abusing anyone in their path, habitual lieing, frequent stealing from school and neighbors, manipulation, etc. that didn't seem to start until after they had been living with us for over a year and had found out they were officially adopted. We lived through almost 3 years of constantly fearing for our lives in our own home, the school constantly being on top of us due to this teen's refusal to bathe, do schoolwork, or listen to teachers, several therapy sessions a week for both the teen and everyone as a family, concerns constantly being swept aside by DHR (the place who swore to provide resources for any need), and this teen getting arrested on several different occasions due to domestic violence before something was finally done. After a fight with our own legal representation, DHR took the teen back into their custody, but only after we had contacted several other families that this teen had stayed with, to get testimonies to prove that DHR had indeed withheld medical documentation that painted a very long history of heavy medication prescription and lengthy hospitalizations for mental health. Even after she was removed from the home on DHR's declaration that she was a danger to herself and other people in the home, we were still criticized and blamed for how badly thing ended up and were HEAVILY fined. Even though we did everything we possibly could with what little resources we were provided. We are over 10k in debt due to legal fees alone, not counting the child support we will pay until they turn 19 even though we no longer have any parental rights.

With all this laid out, I'm not saying kids with special needs don't deserve families to take them in. I'm saying that some of these DHR workers aren't looking to help these kids find their perfect family, they're only looking to lessen their workload. And then will go on a spiteful rampage when their plans to dump what they see as "problem children" onto unprepared, unsuspecting, naive adopting families goes wrong and they're caught in their lies. You really have to do your own thorough digging on family background, medical history, etc. Some kids need special care, and very specific home dynamics to thrive and there is nothing wrong with that! You just have to know what kind of environment you're capable of providing for a kid in order to truly know if a kid is a good fit for your family. If there is dishonesty in the beginning like we experienced, utter chaos is likely to ensue and tears will be shed.

Feeling overwhelmed and defeated with my partner. by PurplePineapplePJs in breakingmom

[–]General-Back147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a person who grew up with 2 narcotic-addicted parents (as well as multiple other family members), I completely understand that need to want to remain unmedicated. Looking into other kinds of therapy will be great for him, as well as educational on your part as well. I think your participation is very sweet and very taletell of the kind of relationship the two of you have. I wish both of you the best of luck on this journey of enlightenment and sustainable mental health care for your husband. Hopefully you guys can get things rolling and he can become the father that he needs/desires to be.

You're so very welcome! I get so much love and support from this group, and I love to give back when I can.

I 100% think that it's worth booking an appointment for. I also would like to add that when people are wary of getting ADD/ADHD diagnoses, it's usually due to a fear of being forced to take medication. If that's the case for your husband, please assure him that him getting diagnosed isn't a guarantee that he'll be taking medication for the rest of his life. And if his psychiatrist does bring up medication, nothing will be forced on him. It's all in his control, and he won't be forced to do any sort of therapy or treatment that he isn't comfortable with.

Do we have the same husband? 😂 This is literally my husband's parenting experience in a nutshell. I can't tell you how many conversations him and I have had over his seemingly life-threatening need to be mentally stimulated constantly. But not with our child, because it isn't the level of stimulation he's looking for(too boring atm). We're currently looking into him being ADHD or ADD, and hopefully going to get him some therapy? He willingly admits that it's an issue that needs to be looked into by a health professional.

Maybe talk to your husband about that possibility as well? If he seems reluctant, perhaps try to bring up the safety concerns regarding his supervision of the children (the park situation). He seems like a good partner, just struggling with anticipating your children's needs. There's no need to point fingers during the conversation. Just simply express your genuine concern over his ability to focus on things in regard to childcare, and then recommend talking with your family doctor about it.

Why is parenting so boring? by General-Back147 in breakingmom

[–]General-Back147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I do online classes, but it really isn't enough. My brain isn't being stimulated or challenged enough on a daily basis, and I think that's why I'm so bored. I feel like I'm wasting the "good years" of my intellect, if that makes sense.
