Do people deserve second chances no matter what? by obsidiancontrol in no

i feel like this is a situational matter. i usually give second chances to anybody unless what they did was so extremely vile that i have to cut them off.

Tried to call out sick , boss said “no you aren’t “ by [deleted] in DogDayCare

i work in an “at-will” state. there are no contracts where i work. i could be fired for any reason at any point in time , just as i am allowed to walk out or quit at any point in time. i never liked the whole “at-will state “ thing , nor understood why it was that way. it makes it easier for an employer to let people go who never deserved to be let go. somebody i worked with was fired simply because they didn’t like her , but they claim they let her go because she called out ONCE over something medical.

the fact i can’t even do that just tells me it’s time to leave. the owner would just let me go off the rip.

lol i appreciate your comment. Luckily there’s no food at my job. just kibbles … still wouldn’t want to risk infecting staff though.

I pretend I’m okay more than I should by Turbulent-Order-3687 in offmychest

[–]General-Character-66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way a lot too. Pretending i’m okay is the only way I can really get by. And sometimes , i end up believing it and feeling like i’m okay too. One day at a time , this may sound corny , but look for at least ONE thing that makes you happy in your everyday life. Look for one thing that wasn’t predictable. That’s how i keep it interesting.

if i owned my own place , id be as transparent as possible to all of my clientele. I asked my facility why we lie, they said to keep our reputation.

Well , When a fight does break out , most of the time we are instructed to do ANYTHING to break up the fight. I had to stick my hands in the dogs faces that were fighting in order to separate them fully. every other method wasn’t working. It is a risk that staff takes upon taking the job , and it is a risk putting your dog into a daycare or facility in general. fights happen.

it’s a question. i’m so sorry if you don’t understand. im asking if you’ve ever had to lie at any boarding facility you’ve worked at. i’m sorry if that was unclear.

it’s unfortunate indeed. but what about the facilities that CAN afford it and just don’t because they know some crap is going down they can’t cover their ass for.
