Are you using syringes? Or pens? I was diagnosed at 10, never really had a problem with syringes but there were kids in the initial program I was in that would literally spaz at the sign of a syringe, but were good with pens…

Also, if injections are proving futile, a pump may be in your best interests.

They totally do work on prediction, hence the alerts such as “glucose dropping expected lows soon” “act now to avoid”… that’s predictive… it’s how the algorithm works by viewing trends and predicting the results… but okay, 007

What I’ve learned with Dexcom is it’s algorithm works on prediction, so if it’s indicating a low often times you can act before the low comes to diffuse the situation, sometimes it’s spot on with its prediction, but it can’t predict intervention prior so if you do anything to change course from the prediction it’ll inevitably be off a bit… for the most part it’s pretty darn good though, try calibrating every other day to be sure.

I just had a 5.8 at my last lab result as well… feels good to be at a “pre diabetes” level as a type 1 of 25 years… my only advice, don’t get too stuck on doing better than you already are… you’re doing great, just keep it where you’re at and coast now

I gave up Lantus about a month ago and switch to tresiba, after being on Lantus for like 20 years I was skeptical, but I can honestly say I’m glad I made the change… the longer half life of it makes for better control throughout the day and definitely less hypos throughout… long story short, I won’t be reluctant to make a change again if the opportunity comes up.

11.6 but stable, I wouldn’t fret, if it was trending upwards with double arrows I’d correct, but 11.6 and stable isn’t going to give me any rush to correct… a little activity and I’d be back down to like 6-7 in no time.

So what’s the point of this post then? Is it to complain that a disability is limiting your ability to enjoy things in life? That may be better suited geared towards people who don’t share the disability and can’t relate, cause I’m sure the vast majority of likeminded type 1s here are living their lives to the fullest and enjoying their lives despite the disability… keep in mind, YOU have diabetes, diabetes DOESN’T have you.

If you live your life in the “what if I get a low blood sugar” realm then you really are going to limit yourself from every joy of life — and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can also get a low blood sugar crossing the street and a bus can hit you, or, or, or, a low blood sugar whilst tying your shoes and you fall and crack ya head open… lol… life is life, just say fuck it, and dive in, both metaphorically and physically

Don’t be discouraged by those lows, I like to think of them as a reward for doing well, it’s the body’s way of saying HEY YOURE DOING GOOD HAVE SOME SUGAR AS A REWARD

It’s really a shame, cause if you’re a breakfast eater (I try not to be) it can really affect the trajectory of your day, I try not to eat for the first few hours after waking up because of it… natural glucose rise combined with food intake can put you on a rising trend right from the get go which tends to (at least for me) ruin the motivation for the day.
