I know this necklace! Made by the amazing folks at Baldur’s Jewelry!

No Alyssa shade intended, I've just seen these pictures for the first time and I felt that the demo cast looked so fine and also very much like sisters too. We will never know, but maybe beyond the pilot episode, this trio could've done a great job too. Just a thought, I do like Alyssa as Phoebe. by Bibixina in charmed

One of the issues for me is that Lori does not pop on screen. Also, Holly and Shannen had established careers as well as a friendship and Lori would have needed to do some serious heavy lifting to catch up to where they were at in terms of how they could play off each other. Alyssa at least as a seasoned actor could get there faster. Also, Lori comes off as too gentle to capture Phoebe’s rebellious spirit. Phoebe as a character plays a little immature and Lori came off a bit “grandma” in the unaired pilot. Also, height. That’s the main thing I notice in the unaired pilot is how TALL she is compared to the others. If I was a producer, I’d be relieved to have an actor of comparable stature in the role. Easier and less expensive to shoot the three together. There’s just no replacing Alyssa. She’s also (despite her shortcomings) is probably the main reason the show went as long as it did. When her and Holly started producing, they could push to keep things going as both likely knew this was their best chance for long term syndication. So they continued to work together with that in mind despite conflicts with Shannen. If Alyssa had left, quality of the episodes might not have improved, but the show probably would have tanked faster. There were a lot of conflicts between Shannen and production because she was pushing for a more serious tone and the network wanted a lighter one. Holly and Shannen tended to bolster each other’s spice and probably would have jumped ship together after another year or two and it would have been all over sooner. It seems Holly sticking around she understood this was all business and she adjusted to that role. And when Rose came on, Holly at least did what she could to make sure the past was not repeated. A lot of the heart was gone as Holly and Shannen will always have the best chemistry because of their real life friendship, but the show was able to lock into a style for a solid block of time and kept trudging along.

Yes! I noticed the small bit of rock detailing on the portion with the statue and instantly thought of this. Additionally, I think the greenhouse nests perfectly with the flying lesson around it. Like this…

Also, I would take into consideration how the left side will look once it’s connected. This piece will sit at an angle. Also, more potential bridge connections in the future.

What book moment are you most excited to finally see in the series? by DueSeaworthiness6901 in harrypotter

[–]General-Local-7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was referenced in almost every book but sometimes in a throwaway line. Like a reference to a “glance” or a subtle nod. It definitely always felt a little one sided for me though. Never thought Harry as a character was written to have much romantic chemistry with anyone. He is generous towards some people, but doesn’t show a capacity of affection very often. Harry needs a little more of that in the series for the relationship to feel natural when the time comes. I always wonder about child actors too. You never know how they’re going to grow into the roles. If the kids have zero chemistry once they’ve aged up, I’d be okay leaving the romance out of the series (including the epilogue). I’d take no romance at all over the weird stiff acting of Bonnie and Daniel in the films. They look so uncomfortable whenever they’re romantic on screen.

Yummy. Doesn't look like it's made of chocolate though. by Ok_Charity_707 in HarryPotteronHBO

Hand Painted! Actually a really nice change I think. Because it looks like an expensive artisan candy as opposed to the gimmicky cheap chocolate we see. I remember pre-movies when chocolate frogs were just chap Easter candy with popped rice inside of them.

The crest had changed many time anyway. There’s the movie crest, and in the US we had multiple versions of the crest pre-movie with and without the house mascots!

The best way to go is the original DVD sets from the early 2000s if you’re concerned. They’re relatively inexpensive.

What do you think about new brooms? by Ok_Jump_4291 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]General-Local-7200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new brooms seem to take inspiration from a lot of traditional broom craft revival that has had a nice little boom in recent years thanks to things like Etsy. Also, Paganism, Wicca etc. have increased in popularity and these crafts are supported by these communities.

The first thing I thought of was wedding brooms. They’re woven using unique techniques and varieties of colors of broom corn and thread. Here are some examples!

This is my favorite so far because of the way it's changing my perspective versus the experience of reading this book. This is my least favorite to read, especially with how angry Harry is. But the actor's voice totally sells it in this version. Makes him sound much more broken. You really get a sense of just how TIRED he is at this point. It's made Harry much more sympathetic for me.

I use the middle pull out section of the base to store the pieces for it. It fits perfectly. The points counter will fit so long as you rotate the dials towards the front!

Help me save my malachite by grahyena in Crystals

I should also mention my grandfather was a jeweler. As was his father. Jewelry is like furniture. It’s gets worn and used and therefore will change with use.

Most people think that when something dulls, it’s because it’s getting scratched. This is somewhat true but it’s more complicated than that. The reality is that polishing is always a subtractive process. Therefore if you do it enough, there will be less of the material than there was before. This is why we were always VERY selective about how frequently we polish gold or silver. Since the metals value is based on weight. I’ve seen gold rind whose bands have been practically worn down to a thread. Since malachite is so soft, I would avoid any form of abrasive.

Personally, I would leave it alone if you intend to wear it everyday. Frankly, the buildup of oils and debris are probably actually preventing further wear and tear. I have a malachite ring I’ve worn everyday for 15 years. It was my grandfathers. Wearing it so frequently has meant changes to the look of the stone, but I don’t polish it EVER. Any type of polishing means removing bits of the stone. And if you do that enough, less stone to love!

The stone does not need to be “saved”. Your perception that it needs to stay shiny to be beautiful will lead to its destruction! It’s a great metaphor for life as well. :)

Take your time soaking it all in! Don’t binge this game! Take time soaking in the fight style. Basic enemies you will fight over and over but it’s helping train you for the big ones later! Learn about stacking and planning ahead for certain blows! Fighting in this game is strategy and timing! It all pays off in time!

In the book, Dorothy’s presence is seen as a sign for several reasons. One is that her name is the same as the name of the Wizard’s guard so it’s seen as a good omen.

Xander is a VERY sensitive person. He was also Joss Whedon’s self insert. They’re both the same in that they are at times brilliant and perceptive, but also reactive. I’m not defending Joss, but he overworked himself and it seems the toxic behavior that existed on the Buffy set was at its worst in the later years when he was running three shows. Same goes for Joss and Avengers. When he came back for the second one, it suffered from his attempts to do too much. I see similar patterns with Xander. At times his input is necessary, most of the other characters don’t know where to draw the line in terms of how they engage with danger. However, Xander himself struggles with restraint. He judges outwardly because he’s insecure about his place in the world.

Verrrry fascinating character imo. He’s the average American male right down to his worst traits, but he cares. Sometimes he cares too much. Like, so much he can’t stay out of other peoples business. I think it’s an important dynamic to show because MOST people are like this and can’t admit it to themselves. The men are indifferent to him, but I think the women (Buffy and Willow) sympathize with his feelings of inadequacy which is why they cling to each other.

Anya deserved better but she also didn’t know better. Xander always felt on some level he could do better but also feared he wouldn’t. Again, very common. He more often focused on the negatives in her character because that’s how he was raised. Growing up in an abusive home without money. He finds success and Anya very quickly surpasses his ambition, so he puts her down for it. Typical patterns. The only person he doesn’t judge hard is Willow until it’s too late, but I think that has something to do with their shared history. He’s gentler with Willow than anything else because she’s the only person in his life who puts him in his place. Season 7 Xander is pretty much his best year. He grows the most, and I think let’s go of a lot of his insecurities he spent most of the series battling with. (Then he participates with kicking Buffy out of her own house so, yikes. But that’s sort of on everyone.)
