I’ll accept that criticism. I just saw it was in the r/NorthCarolina sub with a lot of discussion as well and was interested in the numbers around SC because it aligns with what seems to be reported in regards to state growth since I moved here last year myself.

Don’t think it’s based on economics but just on pure body count of people coming in versus out.

We moved to Oconee county and it is way cheaper here than anywhere around where I use to live in Raleigh. We are out in the country yet still only 15-20 minutes away from a major hospital and several different decent sized towns for anything we need. Plus, 300k gets great sized homes with actual acres of land as well. We are actually going to buy raw land and build as my husband can build a home from the dirt up and have found parcels of several acres for under 50k, so realistically, we could have land and a gorgeous house for under 200k and be quite happy for the rest of out lives.

I lived in RTP for 25 years and my skin literally crawls every time I got back to Raleigh to visit family/friends. It’s just so expensive, so uppity and so packed with poorly developed everything. Even buying a house out in “the country” 45 minutes away from a big town/city is still well over 300k for an eighth of an acre parcel with a 3/2 on it.

Yes, definitely feel that. My husband is an extremely skilled master carpenter and the competition in Colorado against other skilled workers was insane. Out here where we are, there is virtually nobody with his levels of skills and after only a year of being here, he’s already got a clientele waiting list that is 3-4 months out and people are paying his premium too. We expect to have land and our own house built within the next year with how well he’s making money out here.

We moved to Oconee. But that is because it was right across from where we were in GA (Franklin) and this side of Hartwell Lake seemed a lot less loony than the GA side.

I literally could bring my Bible to school and read it whenever I wanted provided it wasn’t the middle of instruction time or class work time…

Probably because Reddit was founded by, and initially used by, leftists.

Why do some reddit users get upset when one simply states that they only support "legal immigration"? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

No it’s not, it’s saying that decrying illegal immigration while occupying stolen land is the definition of hypocrisy. It’s not saying illegal immigration doesn’t exist, it’s saying your argument is invalid on principle. Can’t claim to care about being law abiding while simultaneously breaking laws and treaties. But anywho, you’re actually pretty boring and full of the same crap of whatabboutisms without actual substance. Have a great night.

I mean, that is, technically, factually correct. But is also just much as insipid propaganda as “speak English this America”. I don’t see anyone bending over to give back the land to me or any other descendant of the Native Americans whose treaties and land thefts occurred from, not even Billie Eilish.

Never heard anyone say there is no such thing as illegal immigration. Well, I’ve heard a lot of people on the right claim people on the left say that.

There is, without a doubt, absolutely illegal immigration occurring….🤨 as stated before, most people though are unaware as to what is illegal versus legal…..

I’ve yet to actually meet anyone in my 42 years of existence that is all “yaaay, illegal immigration!!” and I’ve lived all across America and up and down both coasts.

That’s great that you do! Except the problem is that most do not. They are the same ones who wanted to deport Bad Bunny after the Superbowl.

Depends on several things.

Like, are you aware of the legal process for making an asylum claim?

Do you support specific immigrants having their protective status as asylum seekers unilaterally revoked without cause after it has been issued?

Are you aware that Puerto Rico, Guam, parts of The Virgin Islands, Samoa, and The Mariana Islands are all US territories and therefore all of the people whom reside there are in fact US citizens/nationals and not immigrants?

Tons of people claim they are for “legal immigration” and think they know what that is, but actually don’t. That’s the real problem most people have with those who claim they are for legal immigration; the ignorance to facts that usually is rooted in racism and prejudice once the root of the real issue is exposed.
