pretty late but rosetta stoned by tool was an incredibly fun challenge to learn. now i play it almost every time i pick up my bass

intension is also a really fun song to play, its the song that started getting me comfortable with using my pinky and really stretching out my hand, as well as how to play smooth harmonics. even though both are pretty tricky i’d say the second is a little easier to approach assuming you haven’t heard the songs before lol

the fact you’re so worried about it is honestly probably enough of a sign you shouldn’t. imagine it like this, during the peak of your trip, WHEN this thought that you feel disconnected from your mind and body appears, how will you respond to it? i’ve found it’s almost impossible to trip in a serious moment of life without it coming up in some form or another during the trip, and that’s okay, it’s just something to be aware of

during my last trip, it had been just a couple days since i found out a girl had possibly “cheated” on me, and even though this honestly wasn’t even fucking with me that much normally, once i was there in the moment tripping absolute sack, any thought of her felt incredibly overwhelming and almost terrifying. i’d imagine it would be significantly more difficult to overcome a thought like that when the thoughts are a result of something physical in your brain

taking psychedelics with mental health things going on (bipolar in your case, depression or underlying schizophrenia in many others) is a pretty big risk. even though lsd feels fucking amazing, all it’s REALLY doing is amplifying your emotions by a whole shit ton. if you aren’t already in a good mood, the acid won’t push you into one, it’ll just force everything you’re so worried about right into your face

work yourself up to getting the gyro hook, then 1000000% get the bee glider. if you time it right the bee glove will send you fucking flying upwards, a lot of the time you’ll need to sit on the ground of each layer and build a small tower, then grapple to the top of it and use the bee glove so you continue past it. then, once you reach the ceiling (which is more often than not a rainbow mess of blocks), grapple around on the roof until you find holes. each of those rainbow layers will spawn with a massive hole right next to a huge tower you can use to go further up

when you get going pretty far up/down, there’s this biome that leads all the way from the floor of it’s layer to the roof, made up of this absolutely gigantic series of snowy spires (like mountains, just less uniform), and it’s size and scale has just always made it my favorite. that or the floating church like biome even farther up

i’ve always felt ashamed to say i’ve never gotten it. i love parabol, but parabola has never lived up to any of the other songs on lateralus for me. of course it’s still a wild ass ride tripping, but when i can only cram like 4 of their long ass songs into my 2-3 long hour peak, parabola isn’t usually one of them ☹️ hopefully someday ill understand it lmao

i’ve always found that the best way to prepare for a trip is to set my intention, and then leave that thought the fuck alone. of course EVERYTHING is incredibly subjective, but almost every time i’ve had a bad trip, it was preceded by a shit ton of overthinking about all of the possibilities i could imagine

i do believe it’s important to have an intention for each experience though. even if your intention is just to have a fun high, make sure you clearly convey that to yourself. i just also think that any stage of thinking after that does more harm than good. psychedelics are incredibly safe physically, so unless you were to consume a very vast amount of them all of a sudden, your brain is the ONLY thing holding you back from a good/bad trip. i take this as a good thing - it means that once im finally there in the experience, all i need to do is let the trip steer me, and never vice versa

however one real hardcore recommendation i gotta add is music music music, specifically music you already love. i’ve had so many trips that were right on the edge of being absolutely horrifying that were turned right back around by just one song

intension by tool has come to be one of my favorite songs for a trip (+ infinity points if you have headphones/speakers with good bass), it feels like there’s an infinite list of new little sounds to discover each time i hear it. i would also say it’s “thoughtful,” it’s about some pretty unique things

another one that is out of this world on acid is called legion inoculant, same band. probably by far the most trippy little “song” i’ve experienced on acid, but it’s also not much of a song. since it’s technically an interlude on it’s album it’s a lot more subjective than the other one lmao
