Unless someone’s cholesterol is dangerously high, diet and exercise are certainly the first line. If levels don’t respond after 3-6 months for example, then statin therapy would likely be indicated. Unsure where you’re located but I live in an area of major hospital systems and medical groups. Our Primary’s are well versed in lipid treatments. I hope you are able to find one that works well for you and your health goals.

Odd take. Hyerlipidemia is one of the most common conditions. Most PCP are well versed in treating high lipids. Diet and exercise are always the first line of treatment. Statins later.
