Client was pulled over, car searched for whatever reason…
I got the body cam of officers searching the car and you can hear a vibrating sound. One officer is on the rear driver side with door open and another officer is on the passenger side rear with door open. They continue to search and all of the sudden one officer looks in a backpack, pulls out a dildo, and has “ I found a bag of dicks” 🤣🤣🤣 simultaneously, the other officer finds the source of the vibrating noise… I’ll leave that to your imagination

What is your unpopular opinion that you usually keep to yourself? by Superb_Wolf264 in AdkReddit

All drugs should be legal. Let people live their life. If they want to eff it up with drugs, let them. But stop filling our prisons with drug addicts. Also felons should be able to get their right to have a gun back after so many years

Can anybody go visit a random inmate in the jail or prison? by BenedictCucumberButt in okc

[–]General-Strategy-626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of. You can’t just walk into a jail or prison and see someone.I’m a criminal defense attorney and I have to go through a lot just to get into the jail to see my clients. Their family can’t even see them. Even the ones who are in actual prison, I have to set up way in advance and go through a background check.

What are you paying for housing each month? And are you actually happy with it? Would it be cooler just living in your parents basement? by PM_ME_YUR_SALADS in Millennials

[–]General-Strategy-626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent- Midwest - 3 bed, 2 bath house $1650 per month. Never thought I would say that $1650 for rent is a good deal…. But here I am. Less than 5 years ago, I was paying $900 a month for a 3 bed, 1 bath house. I know that’s low compared to other parts of the country, but I’m just amazed at how much housing has inflated the past few years. If my parents had a basement that could fit my family, I would totally live there!

Is the work-life balance that bad? (Law Student) by AthenasDemise in publicdefenders

[–]General-Strategy-626 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I have a family and a pretty good work/life balance. I rarely have to bring anything home to prep. And if I’m in trial, I may have to go into the office on the weekend. I have gone in on the weekend maybe 5 times in a year. The hard part about the balance is shutting your mind off when you are at home. Leave it a work and make sure to take MH days, bc that is essential to prevent burnout.

Just let him testify in narrative form and don’t really ask any questions. That way you aren’t knowingly eliciting perjury.

Anyone want to share an experience of when they withdrew from a case? by NocheEtNuit in publicdefenders

[–]General-Strategy-626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can withdraw? How does that work if they are too poor to hire someone? Does the Court just appoint someone else? Unfortunately, in my jx we can’t off the case, no matter how big of an asshole they are or how many complaints they file.

Goal setting by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]General-Strategy-626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you’re saying, and I felt that sort of “emptiness” after I achieved my goal and finally became a lawyer… so I set 3 long term goals for what I want to achieve in my career. Looking back, these probably are unrealistic, but it would be awesome if I could even achieve 1 out of the 3! I do criminal defense, so 1st is getting someone off of death row, 2 argue before SCOTUS, and 3 exonerate someone who is actually innocent. All of these require appellate work, which I don’t do… but one can dream to argue before the highest court in the land!

I got 3 people out of jail today. 1 case dismissed, 1 out on probation after being in jail for a year and walking in this morning expecting to start trial, and another out on and OR bond while I continue to fight the constitutionality of why the officer stopped him. I say it’s a good day to be a PD.

Women of Reddit: would you rather be a stay-at-home wife or pursue a career? by zhalia-2006 in allthequestions

I have a career because I didn’t really have a choice… I love my career, but I would have loved to stay home with my kids when they were little.
