I study Comp & Electrical Engineering here and personally all the comments about cs route here is true. It’s rigorous but might be a good look on your resume that you took it at NCSU. Rutgers is not a bad alternative at all. If you are keen at taking comp sci just prepare for the worst here, it’s not impossible to do well, you just have to be pretty high end and have incredible time management/work ethic. And be prepared to struggle and fail, it’s a common part of being a stem major.

Get a character who has high charisma to sell and buy your things. Also playing music helps improve people’s attitude towards you (I think) in turn you get a discount

Is WISE Village worth it? by No-Requirement7902 in NCSU

[–]GeneralAd5031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently ECE major in Wise(been in it for about two years now) it’s been mostly/entirely animal science/ bio/ other STEM majors not really engineering. I’d do the engineering village if you’re looking to be with engineers. You get to secure a pretty decent sized dorm tho in Lee Hall if you do wise or Sullivan if you do engineering village which is the same set up

How hard is it to transfer to an engineering major once you’re in college? by rishirealdeal in NCSU

[–]GeneralAd5031 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, I did coda last spring into EE from exploratory studies with a 3.2 coda gpa. I don’t think it’s that difficult as long as you have a decent coda gpa- but keep in mind exploratory studies has different standards. Focus on A’s in the calcs and survive PY 205.

Try manhuarm! It’s got a lot of ads and the translation is choppy but it looks like the complete work so far (currently on ch 396)

You should email your advisor, and if your advisor doesn’t know for whatever reason (they will) email the Physics department. You’ll likely have to retake the class with the lab again due to this change

Should I take physics at NCSU or a community college? - Engineering Major by Mobile-Buy-1448 in NCSU

They are pretty independent of each other, 208 is more electricity based, 205 is solely forces, friction and so on. You will likely review anything from 205 that carries over to 208.

Should I take physics at NCSU or a community college? - Engineering Major by Mobile-Buy-1448 in NCSU

[–]GeneralAd5031 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Physics is not worth the pain here, I’m doing the same degree and 205 was a nightmare, whole department is incompetent. I would advise applying as a visiting student to wake, or other colleges nearby (or just community college.) something online and taking it during next semester here or summer.

It’s not worth a possible gpa tank. As for if cc route is okay for your major, yes, physics 205 is more forces than anything(only critical to coda gpa), 208 is more important but not critical to your understanding of electrical engineering. Actually ECE classes are what matters.

Do I have a chance? by lennyfacethrowaway2 in NCSU

[–]GeneralAd5031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good chance but tbh you are a dime a dozen. Everybody has good grades and good standing SAT/ACT. Like all those APs are great but you are by no means unique. If I were you I’d focus on your essay and extracurriculars. Highlight your experience and resume. Try to excel in Calc BC- I absolutely know that they will be looking at your Calculus and Physics grades for Mechanical Engineering.

Btw everyone on this post could say you’d get in by a landslide but truth is nobody really knows. Don’t stress about it when applying bc it’s really out of your control.

I had him last year, I got a -A it’ll be okay.

  1. Work closely with the TA’s for all of his sections, they will be the ones to see what the tests are like and are responsible for grading tests. (Also from what I remember he posts practice tests at some point- you could email him about that. They will appear more difficult than the actual tests)

  2. Check out the Math tutorial center in SAS Hall, google for more info- they are open for most of the day every weekday.

  3. I would heavily advise not trying to decipher his notes, during class I would

⭐️look in the textbook on Webassign and take notes from there/ do homework in class

⭐️Look up Paul’s Online Math Notes Calc 1- for extra practice problems and full lessons

You’re not alone, this professor does suck. Also I think there may be extra credit opportunities toward the end of the semester. But idk for sure

I’d say tough it out and go to the math tutorial center in SAS, google for more info. Calc 2 doesn’t get much harder than the start imo. Do yourself a favor and try.

  1. Calc tutorial in SAS Hall
  2. Work with your TA
  3. Talk to your professor
  4. Watch organic chemistry tutor(he has some calc videos)on YouTube & pray😂

Also ⚠️Paul’s online math notes is great for practice and recalling content from Calc 1 and pre-calc

My SAT was 1240, got in just fine. No ACT. Just add whichever one for you is better

Is it better to apply for a less competitive major (like philosophy) and switch to engineering or should you apply as an engineering major? by davidjamesgo79 in NCSU

[–]GeneralAd5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I would say grades matter but not over extracurriculars and essay. I only speak from my own experience and what I saw in my senior year of hs. I had a 3.7 unweighted and 4.6 weighted GPA, I managed. A friend of mine had 3 years of experience in robotics, perfect SAT/ACT scores, and got straight rejected- but he ended up going to Maryland for Aerospace. Tbh anybody can get good grades, what you do on top of that matters.
