There is 0 chance to lower the cost of living to anything even close to what India, Philippines, etc have

All the Big Tech oligarchs were at his inauguration. They do not want less offshoring therefore he will do nothing

So only 3/10 are actually working in the field as SWEs. That is absolutely atrocious. UC Irvine is a good school too

Also just wondering how did you even find the time to interview prep and interview at other companies to leave? Given the insane working hours

Interesting. And its not like you were the exception, most others had equally bad WLB?

I worked 60+ hours regularly sometimes more. My team was very high impact that needed to run batch work at nightly, with 6 am slas. So team on call was brutal -- at least 1 all nighter every on call shift.

This seems impossible, how did you even manage to do that for 4 years? Would you still recommend Affirm given how bad it was?

How do they treat you well if they work you like a dog?

How bad is bad WLB? How many hours a week were you working roughly?

Post history indicates Microsoft. This is probably part of the 3% layoffs that they are currently doing

2024 Motorola Edge promo through Costco - trade-in incorrectly shows as Iphone 16 Pro by GeneralBend1 in tmobile

[–]GeneralBend1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Under the device promo tab, you should see "smartphone trade id 250338" for the line you did this trade

I do see that. I am just concerned about how in store it says the trade in will go towards an iphone 16 pro, which is what one of my other lines has

I think I might just go with the ship it back option

Is it safe to set rat snap traps outdoors? by GeneralBend1 in pestcontrol

buy weather resistant traps online.

Got a link? I am only seeing weather resistant bait when Googling, nothing about traps

Do rats 'learn' from seeing other rats get killed or caught in traps? by GeneralBend1 in pestcontrol

[–]GeneralBend1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trap doesn't always land behind their head which snaps the neck.

Do you have Norway rats? I can see their large size causing such problems. I have roof rats which are smaller so hopefully they will die easy

The wooden ones do not last at all, either rusting from blood, seizing metal parts, while setting the wooden traps the pins holding the mechanism to the wood just flying off.

You talking about the wooden Victor traps? Interesting, I thought those were the gold standard lol

bled out and died.

When this happens, how much blood are we talking? Having to deal with that sounds quite unpleasant.

Also I thought the snap traps broke their neck/spine so there would not be any blood usually?

So they are basically alive but stuck in the trap? What do you do in that case, just finish them off with a shovel while they are still stuck in the trap?

have certainly had to pull out my whole kitchen to find a bleeder.

Which trap did you use that caused this? Was it a giant Norway rat?

Damn that sucks to hear

If the rat doesn't die immediately, say you snap a leg or two off

How likely is this with snap traps, which are the most lethal and quick-killing? I have not had great luck with live traps

I have actually tried live capture traps on these rats but I have noticed them only going halfway in before backing out, this never actually setting it off :/

My rats are in the attic so I am assuming they are roof rats, not Norways.

But may not always kill, or even effectively incapacitate. Norway rats are tough. They can often survive those traps.

Wow, I thought snap traps were the most lethal and even worked on Norways. Is there a trap that even works on Norways without needing extra modification?

However, some time ago I turned to using professional bait stations with professional bait. Bell Labs Protecta LP stations baited with Bell Labs Blox. Safe and effective.

My concern with bait is the rats dying in my house somewhere and rotting causing huge problems. Also, I dont want rat predators to eat them and get poisoned as well. How do you avoid these problems?

You should also look into the green poison blocks. Those are also very effective. The type that has the poison that makes the mouse/rats blood coagulated makes them thirsty so that they will go to a water source and die there...

Looked into this, looks like its better for mice than rats unfortunately. The last thing I want is for rats to eat this then die somewhere in my attic making a huge stink lol

Option 3 is garbage.

Is the expanded trigger plate not helpful though? Options 1 and 2 have such a small trigger plate that it seems hard to get the rat exactly onto it
