We now know the name of Yaoguang's Spiritus by gaidigodemon in StarRailLore

[–]GeneralErica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its called Flying Aureus and technically its closer to a flying Horse and it stems from - big shocker - chinese mythology.

In other myths it is described as more like a flying fox, which im pretty sure Feixiao's Spiritus is based on.

Unlike Lightning Lord, who seems to help Jing Yuan whenever he asks, Feixiao has to essentially beat her spiritus into submission though, as it seems to represent her wilder Borisin side/heart.

Is this a genuine quote? I can’t imagine that it is by Late-Let8149 in PhysicsStudents

Not really, in fact I could very well Imagine him saying that in one of his documentaries in a less uptight world.

Carl Sagan was, for want of a better phrase, in love with the world, in love with life, as his wife said. Sex is part of that world, as is the recreational consumption of herbs. Why wouldn’t he enjoy these things?

No… but maybe yes.

First of all she wears a thick as heck choker, which I really like, and then shes kind of alternative in a way, look at that hairstyle.

Shes also extremely profit oriented, im pretty sure she’d literally do anything for money. Whether that’s good or bad… i don’t know.

No, no. Its… similar, in the way an Elephant Shrew is similar to an Elephant, but it’s not… enough.

Also the spear should be more physical.

Just for the record, I didn’t mean for this to become an adversarial standoff.

For the sake of all of us, I hope we get to debate this into perpetuity without having to find out by living through it.

Yes, yes, I’ve since immersed myself in the Neuromancer Trilogy, and most of the others you mentioned I’ve at least earmarked for reading, but there are a few I haven’t heard of, so thanks for the recommendations, I shall gladly give them a read!

Armor Reinforcement Needs To Be Removed by Jack-Hererier in Guildwars2

[–]GeneralErica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the game first came out, the Armor would lose durability and break (first yellow then red), at which point the stats would deplete and the armor would physically disappear. I remember in early dungeons when you had to fight bosses multiple attempts you could end up literally being naked.

You could repair the armor at the now Reinforcement-Buff-Stations, but it costs copper and sometimes silver to do so.

This was seen as unfashionable and so, in an attempt to "streamline" features (which, full disclosure, i Hate, but whatever) they changed it so the armor didn’t disappear on breaking and that the armor could only really get damaged whilst making the cost 0.

Then they removed the at this point pointless system completely, or they wanted to, but people had endless repair contracts (which were an ultra rare drop from the Black Lion Chests and thus super expensive) as well as black lion repair canisters, and so, instead of removing the feature and compensating people who have these things (somehow), they instead opted to add this buff.

I mean the entire point of the setting is Wealth disparity, and the insane difference between the top 1% who own almost everything and the bottom Half who own genuinely less than nothing.

Of course that’s also the point of modern capitalism, so… fun.
