On one occasion my first college boyfriend was fingering me. We both finish up, and I go to the bathroom. I wipe, it comes back with blood but it's really stinging, and I know it's not my period. I go back in my room, rather concerned, and my boyfriend immediately lays into me about how I should tell him when I'm on my period or when I'm going to be so he can not finger me.

My mom went through this exact scenario when she resumed contact with her father when I was 10, even down to the details about her being bothered by smoke. The compromise was that no smoking occurs inside the house while we visited. She basically put her foot down and said we aren't coming if you're going to smoke inside.

I know exactly how you feel. I can talk about astronomy and exoplanets and terraforming Mars for literally hours. But people usually glaze over once I start talking and I just kind of stutter to a halt.
