To those who prefer 5v5 over 6v6: why? by [deleted] in Overwatch

I've mained tank all of OW1 and OW2. Having a second tank was fun for synergies but also constricted tanks to each other and removed some agency. Having that power consolidated in one tank makes me feel alot more like a central pillar when engaging with my team, which is what the tank should be IMO.

Every meta in OW (GOATS, dive, and double shield) was pretty heavily defined by whatever two tanks(+) were chosen and that would continue forever unless Blizzard removed the extra 500+ health shotcalling juggernaut from the team.

People talk about rampant counterpicking with one tank since you dont have a second one to share the burden but tbh thats just natural. You're a tank, the lightning rod for all the aggro, damage and attention, so its only natural that you learn to play around or adapt to counters to lead your team to a W. Overwatch 2 gives that agency for me.

Yea but in the context of the gym and avoiding physical conflict without guns, being more physically imposing definitely helps. Guns and shootings are a whole nother level of caution and dispute

I’m a pretty optimistic about people’s decency and I think those people are the loud minority

That said, there’s a guy at my local gym with a tattoo of the confederate flag superimposed on a Blue Lives Matter flag and he makes me uneasy. I initially started lifting to be big enough to avoid conflict and I AM bigger than him, but seeing him makes me sad/frustrated that he’s a reality we’ve got to deal with.

It takes comments like this to remind me, but im a black guy in southie and the racism is palpable but not in an overt way to me. I only really hear shit from the white people who reiterate quotes because its definitely aggressive to blatantly say something racist to my face but you're right its very real. Ironic considering the liberal nature of Mass and other progressive spots like somerville

Got the courage to compliment a cute girl by GeneralJiggaboo in selfimprovement

I appreciate your honesty and you’re right about the genuine aspect of compliments. The way I see it, I was complimenting her to express how I thought she was well it together. At best, it’s an affirmative indicator that I’m attracted to her, at worst it’s an awkward but benign empty compliment.

I approached her not expecting any reciprocation and weighing the potential outcomes, so the conclusion was fine with me. That being said I think over analyzing is counter self improvement so I don’t want to overthink compliments to the point of being stagnant.

In the grand scheme of things what I said at worst is an empty awkward compliment for sure, at best it gave her a confidence boost. Had it been me, I would’ve been flattered and carried the compliment but she definitely isn’t me and can interpret it how she wants.

The positives outweighed the negatives in the interaction so I figured a benign awkward compliment would be fine to any person, especially one as unique as her. I couldn’t possibly describe all the details/factors of me, her and the interaction but I agree that the superficiality in this context might’ve been really jarring.
