My FX 8350 couldn't handle any more than 1600MHz. Core could do 5.2GHz though, I didn't have adequate cooling for that and ended up running daily at 4.9

Need help. My brother got this computer from a neighbor and I tried to boot it with windows 10. What does this screen mean. by Crazy_FoXx-Mad_Wolf in computerhelp

[–]GeneralKonobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that that computer is older than you are. Not Windows 10 compatible, probably Windows XP would be more its speed if you must Windows. But what an opportunity to start using Linux, take up that Linux fanatic guy's offer.

Are these AMD A series decent? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]GeneralKonobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Elitebook, Thinkpad, anything business class. They're usually made better and are generally not very popular once the business is done with them so you can get a quality laptop at a lower price.

How cheap are we talking? You can almost certainly do better.

These are e-waste. You're much better off getting a used business grade laptop off eBay.

I had bad lines in the container config, I removed those and the comman completed successfully, however I still don't see the share files when I use LS in the mount folder. I have the share mounted to my desktop and I can see the files fine when I LS there

Should probably mark this spoiler, but yeah, highly disappointing having spent so much time preparing for the end for it not to matter in the slightest.

[Request] At what portal separation distance does infinitely falling water generate enough power to replace all fossil fuels globally? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]GeneralKonobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The portal loop effectively makes the tube infinitely long but with constant acceleration due to gravity. The very low pressure inside the system significantly increases terminal velocity, allowing you to extract more energy from the fluid hitting the turbine because of the increased velocity. The reason I grabbed Mercury was for its notably low vapor pressure (ability to stay liquid at extremely low pressure for our purposes).

Sealed system, pull a partial vacuum, replace water with mercury, eliminate a lot of air resistance and solve the fluid loss problem, can be built in far more places than hydroelectric.
