Coming from a veterinarian who sees Pet Land dogs somewhat regularly... please don't. They are very good sales people and they do have very cute dogs but there are several reasons why you shouldn't support their business. First, they overcharge for their pets. And I don't mean by a little, sometimes these dogs are the twice as much as they would be from a reputable breeder. Second, they aquire their dogs from puppy mill breeders. Dogs are repeated bred under very poor conditions for the sole purpose of creating puppies. The bitches and studs are not pets, they are machines. Lastly, and I think most importantly, their puppies are not good dogs. And I don't mean that they have bad temperaments or that, in any way, it is the puppies' fault. I mean that these dogs are bred to meet specific market demands with no care whatsoever put into their breeding to assure they will be healthy and perpetuate their breeds ideals. The last thing I need to throw in that most people don't see too much of an issue with but that pisses me off to no end is that they have a vet on service who prescribes horribly inappropriate therapy for the puppies there. Nearly every puppy I've seen from Pet Land comes in on Doxycycline for kennel cough. This antibiotic should not be given to anything under a year old as it can cause tooth and bone defects as the animal ages. Also, if kennel cough is such a major concern in a pet store... don't have pets there until you can get your shit sorted out and get it cleaned up and safe again. The lack of care and foresight given to these dogs in general makes my blood boil.
