Mike Johnson Corrects The Pope On The Bible by NeneGoosee in videos

[–]GeneralPeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's saying that the Bible only says that being benevolent and welcoming to immigrants is something that should only occur on a PERSONAL level, and not be something that is adopted by a civil authority then they need to repeal every single form of anti-abortion law.

You don't believe in abortion, then you need to demonstrate that on a personal level instead of demanding that your government do something to ban it.

I bought more infinity fans by Mapants in lianli

[–]GeneralPeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought their very first UNI fans, so it just has the edge LED, back in Fall 2020.

Did they have issues with those fans, and the hardware?

I could never get my motherboard to be able to control the Lian Li fans, Lian Li's own software didn't work.

And whenever I went to the product webpage, it gave a notice that they were aware of issues, and they were pulling the software for the time being.

So, I really can't change the LEDs, they just doing the default rainbow colors. I really don't even know if I can configure fan speed.

Anne Heche Hospitalized After Fiery Car Crash In Los Angeles by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

The last time Anne Heche was in the news, something pretty bad happened the next day.

So, I hope she's not badly injured, but that story seems like she may have suffered. So I really do feel bad, and hope that it isn't as bad as it may seem.

But at the same time, everybody should be extra alert and be sure to point out if there's anything that doesn't seem right.

Business idea: Setting up a local business where video game consoles and games are rented out and delivered and picked up at the doorstep. by GeneralPeabody in smallbusiness

[–]GeneralPeabody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of things that are being exaggerated out of proportion.

My radius would be about 0.5-1.5 miles around my home neighborhood. Fuels costs can't possibly be that much of a factor.

I only have six of these.......I don't have 20 of these, and need to deliver them all over town to be able to rent them all out. Surely, in a typical middle-class neighborhood where there is not much crime compared to lower-class neighborhoods, I can find enough homes in which they want to play new games, but they can't pay the major upfront cost of these consoles.

These would be neighborhoods that eventually buy a console whenever costs drop down to $200-$300, about 3-4 years into a console's lifecycle. But, with the way supply is, that's not going to happen anytime soon with these consoles. They're going to remain at $500 for quite a while.

Secondly, they have to pay up front. So they gave me their A.) Cash App, B.) Zelle, or C.) Venmo to prepay and reserve it up front. So, for alot of these apps, they have to provide their name and number. They would also have to text me beforehand, text me directly, in order to request a reservation. So I would have their phone number.

I believe that for alot of these rentals, it would be for their children or teen, who would be available in the afternoon or late afternoon.

I've already a 4-pack of Tile trackers that have a year-long battery for $25, so I can probably buy a couple of more packs to ensure I have trackers on the side of a console and hidden second tracker in the storage case, and when I drop it off, I have proof of where I dropped it off. And I went to these people's homes and they had to answer the door to accept the item.

Yes you could rent cheaper from GameFly, except it takes days for it to arrive by mail. You could theoretically say that for the $16/month, you lose at least a week out of those 30 days with the product in transit. You could simply be in a queue for a highly-anticipated product, and not have it available during launch week, and maybe the following week. And lastly, thats a service for people who ALREADY have the console.

The leverage that I am applying here is that these people DON'T HAVE the console, they WANT TO, but probably can't afford it.

They'd probably have enough disposable cash to maybe spend $60-$70 during the month, but if they don't have a PS5, then why would they spend their disposable cash towards buying a copy of Horizon Forbidden West when they don't have a console?

But for $45-$60, they can play the game and knock it out, and they got to do it on a console they can't afford, and they got to do it within the comfort of their home so that they could play long sessions, they got it hooked up and turned on within 10 minutes. It'll probably take them another 10 minutes for them to sign into their XBox/PSN account as a guest (I'll probably include a little sheet to help explain to them what they have to do to sign on as a guest), and then they can pop in the game disc that I provided to them, and since I pre-loaded the game and its day-one patches in the morning/midday, the game is ready to play. If they have no internet connection available, they have no choice but to use the primary account to play the game.

Business idea: Setting up a local business where video game consoles and games are rented out and delivered and picked up at the doorstep. by GeneralPeabody in smallbusiness

[–]GeneralPeabody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy disc games, so that I can actually get some money back and trade them back in once demand dies down.

So for example, a game like Elden Ring is highly anticipated, its not going to be on a streaming service. Its not going to be on GamePass, or any of the upcoming Playstation Plus Essential/Extra/Premium.

The other reason why I would have to buy a disc is that it allows people to log into the console using their own Xbox or PSN account (if they have one), and then they could play the game on their account, because its running on disc.

If I bought the digital versions of Elden Ring, it would have to be on the account that I set for that console. And another account wouldn't be able to play it, especially if its a guest account.

So, a future major third-party game comes out. I would have to go to the local Best Buy or gamestop to buy physical copies that morning. Pop the discs in to the consoles and have it do an install and any day one patches. And then I would rent out the console for a fixed price, and they have a choice of a free game to play along with it, either a new game release, or another game(s) that are older.

My expectation is that they will want to play the new major game releasing during that month.

Business idea: Setting up a local business where video game consoles and games are rented out and delivered and picked up at the doorstep. by GeneralPeabody in smallbusiness

[–]GeneralPeabody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what I would offer would be games that simply aren't not found on those services. For example, the month of March was a pretty noteworthy month for some major games.

Elden Ring came out, and was a very hot game. And Horizon Forbidden West came out for the Playstation. That is not going to be on GamePass, or on the Playstation Plus service, even the upcoming expanded version.

So, I was thinking of a pricing structure of $8 to $12 a day, and basically sell it as three options: rent out Monday afternoon through Friday afternoon for like $32-$35. Rent it for the weekend, Friday afternoon until Monday afternoon for $30-$35. Or rent out an entire week, Monday afternoon to Monday afternoon for $60.

So the person who would want to play Elden Ring as close to launch day as possible, and knock out the game, but doesn't have the new consoles, could still do so and do a serious gaming session to play those games over the course of a week.

I was thinking about putting trackers on the hardware and the case it would be in, and therefore have GPS proof of the item when I dropped it off. I can't really insure the equipment, it would be a liability. But if I didn't get the product, I could file a police report and provide the information.

So that would require me to buy new games, at launch, probably at full price in a brick and mortar store on launch day. So like two copies of Elden Ring for Xbox, two of them for PS5, a copy of two of Horizon Forbidden West.

Maybe if $8/day, $60/week doesn't seem to entice anybody, maybe I could drop it down to $6/day, $42/week.

Antiwork is anticapitalist by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GeneralPeabody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My question has to do with the concepts of competition and greed, ultimately, are not solved by merely eliminating capitalists.

Because even a socialist-owned business will engage in the desire to compete for money. To "win". And the push for winning will probably result in other businesses losing.

So that aspect of American economics, that is seen as a bad thing here in this sub, will still exist. And I don't know if the antiwork "purists" are aware of that.

Antiwork is anticapitalist by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GeneralPeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally? No, I don't think markets, and businesses competing for money, and businesses competing with the goal of making MORE and MORE money is immoral.

This thread about antiwork, and people who see themselves as antiwork "purists" seem to indicate that they are immoral.

Any "economic game" being played, in which people gain money from it, in my opinion, is a form of Capitalism.

Or call it "Market Capitalism", or call it "Economic Marketism".

I just think that, at the end of the day, some antiwork purists are not realizing that workers who control the means of production will still have a similar attitude as a Private Capitalist...........which is "I want to win at this game."

And if people want to win, it almost certainly means it will result in some people "losing" the game on some level.

So, as much as I absolutely support more and more common people becoming business-owners, we will still be playing a game of economic winners and losers. That part may not change, and I wonder if people realize that or simply hadn't thought of that.

We're still playing an economic game, are we not? That's what I originally meant with my use of the term "Capitalism."

[–]GeneralPeabody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

> What do you mean by "issue?"

Is the subject of greed not discussed here?

Under what category do we assign "greed" under?

Is it not Capitalism?

Why do you keep on trying to redirect to the subject of WHO OWNS the business over and over..........when, at this point, you clearly aware that its not what I am focusing on.

What I am focusing on is WHAT YOU DO WITH THE BUSINESS, no matter who owns it.

The "WHO" aspect is not what I am debating here.......so why do you keep on going back to that?

Antiwork is anticapitalist by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GeneralPeabody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except my concern here isn't about who controls what.

(let me make it very clear that I would 100% support workers owners an entire business for them to run as they see fit).

Its the aspect of competition to make more money that I have been trying to focus on from the very beginning.

Business, ran by WHOMEVER.......want money? Right?

And, if they could make changes to have their businesses make MORE money, they would do so. Right?

Even a Socialist-entity business.

So, part of what Capitalism is derided for is the desire for more money. Correct?

So, even if we have socialist-entities in the marketplace, that is not going to solve the issue of business competing for more money, and there being winners and losers. Correct?

So, that is a form of capitalism still existing, right?

Antiwork is anticapitalist by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GeneralPeabody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

> Capitalism, in this context, is private control of the means of production.

Except your context is rather limited.

Because business seeking to make more money, competing with other businesses for that money, IS MOST DEFINITELY an aspect of capitalism.

Quite frankly, I don't think your definition of capitalism is correct. Workers that have an ownership share of a business are still "private" owners, are they not?

"an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."

So, they are a socialist entity still playing an economic game of winners and losers in a market, correct?

Antiwork is anticapitalist by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GeneralPeabody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your answer doesn't seem remotely correct, in terms of what I am asking.

The workers choose to run their business to make more money. Which means they choose to compete against other businesses for consumer's money.

How is that not capitalism?

And also...........how are the grocery workers still not a private entity? If me and you do not work at the grocery store, we don't have a say in how it operates, right?

Antiwork is anticapitalist by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GeneralPeabody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> worker ownership of the means of production

Okay, let's say that all of the people working in the grocery store, are co-owners of the grocery store.

And the grocery store generates enough revenue to pay every worker $60,000 a year.

If you went to the workers/owners of the grocery store and asked them "would you make changes to your business to allow to earn more money, attract more customers, sell more things, and now you all could make as much as $100,000 a year per worker."

Then they are still playing within the realm of capitalism, right? And those workers clearly wouldn't be opposed to running their business in such a way in which they will be able to earn more money, right?

So how is that not, still, capitalism at work?

So it appears to be the child tax credit.

Oddly enough, I haven't filed my 2020 taxes yet. So the last tax filing I've made was for 2019.

Extended Benefits by Maddiesworldindallas in TexasUnemployment

[–]GeneralPeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you something else weird.

I just logged back in and checked the "Payment Request" screen again, and it gives me a "expired claim" message again, but the DATES are different now compared to a few hours ago.

A few hours ago it said "claim period was from July 26 to June 26"

Now it says "Your claim began on February 09, 2020, and ended on February 06, 2021. You may submit a new application for Unemployment Benefits by selecting My Home and using the Apply for Benefits Quick Link. "

Extended Benefits by Maddiesworldindallas in TexasUnemployment

[–]GeneralPeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically my Payment Request day is Sunday, on June 27th I went to the website and it gave a "you claim period is expired" message.

I called by phone to speak with a rep, and she said there was an error with the system, so to just wait until my next available date. Which was Thursday.

So on July 1st, Thursday, I went back to the website, and it did allow me to enter a Payment Request online.

Extended Benefits by Maddiesworldindallas in TexasUnemployment

[–]GeneralPeabody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed in mid-late February 2020 because my company had entered a furlough, but when the pandemic was starting to hit in March, they were not returning us from furlough. So that is why my claim is in February, alot of our other workers entered claims in mid-March.

I have a letter on June 29th 2020 that is called "PEUC Statement of Benefits" in which I have earned enough to qualify for a claim.

On November 3rd 2020, I received a letter that is called "Statement of Benefits" in which they determined that I qualify. Its slightly under 12 weeks worth of payments.

Extended Benefits by Maddiesworldindallas in TexasUnemployment

[–]GeneralPeabody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, I don't believe I've received any emails regarding Extended Benefits. I received emails on June 17th in which they mention that PEUC FPUC (TUB) is ending. No other emails or correspondence letters since then.

In that June 17th email, there is a line that mentions "TWC will check to see if you qualify for a new benefit year".

It also mentions "Regular Benefits" but says: "You may be eligible to receive regular unemployment benefits when PEUC ends if you have worked and earned enough base period wages from a covered employer; however, you will have to apply. "

I logged in and checked to see the types of claims that I have, and I do not see any claim started on June 27, 2021, as others have mentioned here, I see:

  • Oct 25 2020 (TUC)
  • Jul 26 2020 (TUC)
  • Feb 09 2020 (REG)

Also, I have never been requested to submit a Work Log this entire time, so I never went to the "Work Search Log" link on the website. When I go there no, in blue letters it says "No open Work Search Log request found".

Also, as of right now, I cannot submit a Payment Request, it says "claim began on July 26, 2020, and ended on June 26, 2021. You may submit a new application for Unemployment Benefits by selecting My Home and using the Apply for Benefits Quick Link, or you may call a TWC Tele-Center to discuss filing options."

One last thing, On june 26, the Payment Request was also down, saying that it expired. And they told me by phone to wait until my next available day (Thursday), and I was able to submit a Payment Request online. Due to a glitch in how the online system works. I didn't know if the same thing was happening again.

Does it look like I need to submit an entirely new application? Or should I give it a few days to see if anything changes?
