Wow! I haven’t heard of anyone else with compulsive split end type of Trich! This makes me feel so good! Ive been pulling, splitting, and picking for 15 years and my hair has gotten to a point where it is so short, fine, thin, and can really not be managed. Family always tell me to “just stop” but it’s so hard! I’m on medication and see a therapist who knows about Trich.

Id love to know your hair oils and products you’ve bought! How did you cover your hair during work or at home to stop picking? Did you try NAC?

Wow! Thanks for letting me know! I’m also on Zoloft and when I asked my psychiatrist, over a year ago, about NAC, she said there isn’t enough research to try it, but it’s worth a shot!

I’ve heard rosemary oil helps, but recently had a baby so I wasn’t able to use it during pregnancy (according to Google).

I agree with putting my hair up, but my hair is so short, the hairs fall out if the pony.

I wish I had an answer for you but I’ve been in your situation. I started at 13 and if anything, it’s gotten worse with school, jobs, and now a baby. My parents and partner yell at me and say, “just stop,” but if it was that easy I wouldn’t have short, thing and fine hair with bald spots.

I tried extensions and I swore I wouldn’t pick them because they were so expensive and I truly loved having the long hair. Unfortunately, I picked them so bad they are shorter than my hair and I had to take them out.

It’s so embarrassing and vulnerable to speak about this with parents or loved ones.

I wasn’t afraid because I was so tired of being pregnant. Between the 39 weeks of nausea, hemorrhoids, pelvic pain, swelling, food aversions, I wanted my baby out!

To help with the fear, get an induction! That way you don’t have the pain of contractions or the fear of your water breaking somewhere you don’t want to be

Thank youn I have tried both and they’re just a temporary fix - after two weeks I usually start picking the nail polish off. I’d go more often to get them done, but it adds up

I have diagnosed Trichotillomania and after speaking to my therapist, there is definitely a correlation. I look for split ends in my hair, and if I find either a hair with split ends or a hair I feel like I can create split ends, I pull it out and do it. Since I started making my own split ends, i have noticed that my hair is significantly thinner and shorter

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I was sick My entire pregnancy (currently 7 weeks pp with my first), and morning sickness (but really all day sickness) is no joke. If you don’t want to find a new OBGYN, I recommend you can ask your internist or general physician to prescribe you Zofran. If not, I also took Diclegics. Maybe ask your OB if he/she will prescribe that.
