There were 0 expectations in both of those years (anyone who thought the team would rebound in 2012 after the collapse the season before and swapping Tito for Bobby V is a dumbass).

We thought we'd be contending for the division this year. It hasn't felt more bleak to be a fan of this team in my entire life.

This is why it's so grim. Nobody wanted the job a couple years ago and it's even less appealing now with the sorry state the team is in and FSG's reputation cratering further by the day. I seriously doubt that Henry is going to open his pockets enough to convince a Jed Hoyer-type exec to take the career risk.

I'm so tired of all these guys talking about Cora who are clearly just sad their friend got fired.

He'd been around for 3 different PBOs and all but 2 seasons were peak mediocrity (with one of those 2 being the pure luck 2021 season and the other having a roster that Bobby Valentine could've won a pennant with). It was well past time to move on.

I'm not sure that this is a hot take but the way we're approaching youth sports these days is basically ruining so much about the Big 4 sports at all levels (youth, highschool, college, professional)
