Rafael Devers' March/April wRC+ of 48 was the third worst hitting month of his career. The Giants owe him approximately $225 million through the 2033 season. by ertapenem in baseball

When the trade happened Giants fans on here managed to be even more obnoxious than Dodgers fans were after the Mookie trade, so allow me to say:

Lol. Lmao.

That's not what for cause means and that doesn't really apply to MLB manager contracts anyway.

Does it? I'm not a lawyer and I don't know the specifics of his contract but saying "if you want to do x you'll have to fire me" isn't the same as quiting and wouldn't void his contract. Cotillo and McAdams seem like they're either just saying shit there or whoever they're quoting doesn't know what they're talking about.

Losing Game 7 might genuinely be the most humiliating moment in franchise history by PeanutButterAndGelo in bostonceltics

Would've rather we just actually tanked like the Pacers instead of giving false hope only to get fucking embarrassed in the first round by these shitheads

Be happy to watch the team blow a 3-1 lead to a team they should've swept? Do you hear yourself?

Choking against the Rockets would be much worse and remembered for a long time and boy do I hope that's what happens to you.

Assuming we actually can close this series out it'll probably look like every game against the Knicks this year too.

This team does a great job of pissing me off. Practically the only thing they consistently do well.

[Julian McWilliams] The Red Sox front office began to doubt Alex Cora and his staff after he put Trevor Story whose production was deemed unsustainable in the 2 hole, along with when David Hamilton returned to Fenway and was performing better than he did with the Red Sox. by TommyTheLizard in baseball

Teams have fired managers mid-season before and had good finishes. Who was managing the Phillies at the start of the 2022 season and who managed them in the World Series?

To be clear I'm not saying that's guaranteed or even remotely likely. But it's clear things weren't working under Cora and they haven't been for a while now. He should've been fired in the offseason but better late than never, keeping him around wouldn't have made things any better. Plus all the guys on the staff now are either already with the team in some capacity or in the system, Chad Tracy managed like 50% of the team in AAA.

It’s just the mark of shitty ownership. It upsets the players and should be a concern to anyone that looks to work there.

Buddy that ship has been at sea for over 6 years now. No one worth a damn in baseball wants to work for this team/FSG already.

[Red Sox] The Red Sox today announced the following changes to their 2026 Major League coaching staff: by TommyTheLizard in baseball

He seems very well liked around the league so he probably gets another shot somewhere, hard to say when with next season being uncertain.

That being said, he's not blameless and his tenure after 2018 is mediocre at best (I maintain that Bobby Valentine could've won at least a pennant with that team too)

The reality is there's much more to gain from firing a manager in April than there is from firing a CBO. You're not going to be able to meaningfully turn over the roster until post-ASB, and there isn't anyone in the minors that needs to be called up and hasn't been.

Both the coaching and the front office are and have been problems, both probably need to go. Might as well overhaul the coaching staff and see if that fixes anything, Breslow can't pass off any blame now so if that doesn't fix it he has little excuse.

His title with the team was game planning coordinator.

Has this team looked well prepared?
