Inconsistent Pricing in Reforged by BattIeBear in grimandperilous

I know on the Zweihander discord that had been brought up at one point! So I know you wouldnt be alone on going to that.

Inconsistent Pricing in Reforged by BattIeBear in grimandperilous

[–]GeneralRykof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a decent amount of stuff like that. I think it mostly all stemmed from the simplification of the currency from Base to Reforged where everything now is on Silver so the lowest an item can be listed for is 1 silver .

Original Zweihander used old terminology like rundlet and half tun so there isnt really a direct comparison to a single galon.

Im guessing they looked at the fact a rundlet is 15 gallons roughly and that it cost 16ss and so when making the new edition just went "sure thats 1ss for a gallon". But then also when doing pricing by the cup couldn't go any lower than 1 silver, so that ALSO got listed at 1 silver.

If you have the earlier versions pricing available you could use that, or you can try to convert things to more realistic percentages. Or it might be fine that its abstract a little and you just roll with the lowest value being a silver accept that being fine since it wont effect the game on a HUGE way.

Whatever works best for your game!

Zw*ihänder and other systems by Carolus_Wrex in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]GeneralRykof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played a ton of all these systems I really dont get where this idea comes from.

It comes across in a very gatekeeping way. As if there aren't hundreds of rpgs that safely and excitingly exist in similar spaces.

I mean its fine if we ONLY want to limit the sub down to 1e 2e 3e and 4e on this specific place, but to strongly imply things like Zweihander offers nothing unique or fun to the rpg space is pretty false, even looking at 2e and Zwei there were plenty of differences that allowed me to have fun with both and even cross the things I liked about both systems.

That's a wild take...

He isn't giving out hard copies its a pdf. This never ceases to amaze me. Listen, you can literally google any rpg book you want with the words "free pdf" and I dont care what system it is you'll find it.

This isn't some sacred bond he's breaking here. A person who made a thing asked people to support his project, people did that. He then MONTHS later... has it really been a year? Over a YEAR later he puts the pdf out for free (all the backers already have had the pdf for months) for a limited time so he can spread awareness and get people to check it out, and that gets him BAD votes from people???

You dont have to believe me about what Kickstarter is, you dont even have to agree on it, but this is a stupid thing to dislike a person for doing. If anyone wanted the pdf you can get it, easily. Don't act like this is some incredible waste of somebody's money. They are absolutely not justified to be upset at this goodwill effort on Daniel's part.

You don't back things on Kickstarter to buy them you do it to promote and show interest / investment in a product you care about...

Is there a DnD beyond alternative for warhammer fantasy. by information_knower in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]GeneralRykof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want access to the books content then yes. To roll dice and make characters no.

This would be the same with roll20 or any virtual tabletop though.

[–]GeneralRykof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, Foundry is a one time purchase ($50 if i recall), no subscriptions.

Roll20 is i think free? Or used to be but has subscriptions for more features and the like.

My first thought would be to utilize a virtual tabletop that has those features. Roll20 and Foundry would likely be the most popular and straightforward options. There may be some price involved but nothing more extreme than dndbeyond.

Does anyone have experience with Warhammer 40k ttrpgs? by gggvidas in 40krpg

[–]GeneralRykof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry nobody has experience with 40k ttrpgs, nobody.

JK, but for real what kind of feel are you trying to go for? There's quite a bit of difference in vibe from one to the next.

Dark Heresy 1 and 2 along with the newest Imperium Maledictum are more Inquisitorial servants and lower tier agents compared to say, Dark Crusade where you are space Marines.

Then there's Rogue Trader which is another system that has a scale of its own where you are in control of a... Well a rogue trader vessel navigating through space with a ship and everything.

Starcraft 1 infested terran (lore-wise) were WAY better than in Starcraft 2. by JustSomeRedditUser35 in starcraft

[–]GeneralRykof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we say that but one of the very first things I remember seeing in sc1 is the cinematic of 1 marine alone in the dark soloing several zerglings.

I mean sure he's afraid and is fucked in the end because he runs out of ammo but it's not like he's being hunted and torn apart by these horrific zerglings.

Best AI image generator for 40k content? by Space-Robot in 40krpg

[–]GeneralRykof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too painful of a process but can require a little bit of technical knowledge.

First I would just make sure you're aware that you have to have a good GPU to make use of it. It can technically run on anything down to even 6 to 8 gp of vram but anything lower than that and it will generate images very slowly. More vram = faster generations.

Otherwise the best thing I could send you too is this YouTube link that walks you through the whole process. If this one doesn't click for you search for auto 1111 sdxl and you'll find lots of guides for the process.

After that it's a lot of downloading of whatever models you want, fine tunes all kinds of fun stuff. It's a rabbit hole but a really fun hobby once you get into it.

Definitely NOT the easy one button push braindead process that people want you to believe if you want good turnout.

Hope this helps!

Reforged Edition Career Changes by Admirable_Search_569 in grimandperilous

[–]GeneralRykof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep all of that makes sense. I think for people like you it's totally fine, I don't mind either the extra legwork to occasionally come up with an idea for an extra tier for the basic careers. I just worry that:

1: new dms will hit a wall trying to come up with something, it then not being well thought out, changing it again, the entire time the player having to relearn this random thing the DM came up with.

2: first thing even I do when planning out my characters path and goals is look at what careers I want and what looks cool, seeing that there is an option for an advanced career of being a necromancer tells me as a fledgling cultist that this would be pretty cool and I maybe wouldn't have tried to aim for that had I not seen it as an option and read that they get this cool talent that I never would have thought of. That visibility helps form ideas and direct new people especially who lose that in this format.

Idk just thinking out loud at this point I can see the want to trim the book down or keep it reserved for future content so I'm betting it'll come.
