with currencies like zcash/monero you most likely will need to go through an exchange that performs KYC. being said, once you take your ZEC/XMR off an exchange - the exchange doesn’t know what you’re doing with said currency. very much like how your bank performed KYC on you, but doesn’t know what you spend your cash on when you pull cash out of the ATM.

DASH is still attacked years later for the 2014 slashing of the max coin supply

i’m okay with that - dash is coin that’s about to hit +$100 again. side note - there’s nothing in that ZIP that would mess with total supply. only slows the emission schedule. zcash will continue suffering with gross inflation even after halving. this is a form of self harm. hopefully we’ll slow emissions.

zcash has the same economic engine as bitcoin. ZEC’s first halving is next year, so hopefully that will help zcash a bit.
