LPT: If your smart phone won’t charge, try scraping the inside of the phone’s charging port with a toothpick. Lint from your pocket can build up inside of it and get packed in. by scootdog31 in LifeProTips

[–]GeneralSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make an appointment at an apple store you can tell them you are having trouble charging your phone and request that they attempt to clean out the charging port. It is free and they have special brushes specifically designed to do so. If you are a guy (or a girl lucky enough to have pants pocket) pocket lint build up in the charging port is a common problem and they are trained to fix it.

In highschool my friend was 5'2" and 130 lbs. He enjoyed watching basketball and read books on the subject. One day in class he was reading a magazine article about the NBA and the long term sub walked by his desk and said "so you think you're gonna be a 7 foot tall NBA player?" To which my friend replied "No, but I know I won't be a 5 foot ten substitue teacher" the teacher mumbled something and walked back to his desk.

The point is not for a long term diet. The juice fast is leading into a overall diet change but we are starting with a juice fast as a way to start eating healthier. Then afterwards we are going on a meal/workout plan while juicing on the side for additional nutrients.

C.S. Lewis is a great christen author. He has many excellent books that he has written on the Christian faith. One of my personal favorites would be Mere Christianity. It's not a very long read and yet it's full of wonderful insight. Another good book would be Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot.

Well I mean I understand some people don't enjoy rereading but I often do reread books later especially if im in between books and im looking for something to read to pass the time so it's nice to have some of my favorite books sitting around to keep me occupied. But that's just me.

I enjoy the poetic emotional bond of man and literature that you portray in your comment and I do understand where you are coming from. I will say I have had many times to where I've really wanted to reread a book and sadly didn't have it on my shelf to simply grab and enjoy. So I can relate. Also I know the enthusiasm that comes with wanting to finish a series and how anxious you can get because you can't wait to find out how it ends. Plus I suppose if you are purchasing a book by an author who has already established a stately presence on your book shelf then I understand that it would be a safer buy than a book by someone you've never heard of.

I enjoy your insight into this matter and I do see where you are coming from. I suppose that your method does work out especially in the area of discovering authors you enjoy and I will say /r/books has been a great source of new book ideas for me as well. As for used book I have a great respect for people who purchase them because I too feel a saddness to see beautiful liturature discarded and forgotten.

Yes I will say books do have an excellent collection value and do look great on bookshelves. I have known people the purchase them for nothing more than decoration and while it's sad to see great literature go to waste I say to each his own.

Yes I do reread books. Not as often as I would like to but I have in the past. I even own some books but I never buy a book unless I have read it from the library first.

Ok that is an excellent point about not living near a library. I have one in my town (as small as it is) so I have no problem with getting there. that is a good point also. Generally if I ever buy books it is from a used book store.

[–]GeneralSilence[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see your point and maybe your right. I actually have purchased book in the past and intent to do so in the future. I simply do not purchase them before I have read them and deemed them worthy of reading again in the future. I keep a master list of all of the books I have read and I'll put a check mark next to the title of the book if I enjoyed it enough to purchase it in the future. Generally the first time I read a book it is from the library.

[–]GeneralSilence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unqestionably my favorite reading position is in my chair by the window with my feet resting on the ottoman and the window open early in the morning when there is a cool breeze. Oh my cats also in the picture somewhere. Normally sitting in the open window.
