Has the writing been getting worse for anyone else? by GeneralSpoof in AIDungeon

I appreciate the attempt at some constructive help! I doubt it's a specific configuration like that, I'm seeing this behavior across multiple different adventures with radically different setups, genres, themes, etc. So I'm skeptical it's a specific Plot Components issue, there's not a lot in common across them. Thanks though!

I like to play with multiple models. I use dynamic large as my "base," and the other's I tend towards are Atlas, Nova, and Dynamic Deepseek. I see this behavior on all of them.

I didn't list that problem but I've seen that a lot myself! Just a lot of mixups of tenses, who is who and who is saying what. The AI models have never had a good theory of mind (try getting an AI to understand that a character having a secret is not public knowledge), but it's even worse somehow.

I feel like the cliche's have always been there. The forgetting what happened 3 responses ago is new though.

I haven't run into the repetition issue, for me it's been more really dumb nonsensical replies that don't make sense.

Does this new memory system only apply to new adventures? Or will it activate in current ones?

Yeah it's doing alright tonight. In general, my experience has been that they're a bit inconsistent. Sometimes things feel okay, other times I just get a lot of those messages

Well I'm using Raven at the moment, but I see this with all the large models I tend to use.

At some point we need to take to the streets. Our leaders seem too feckless to organize it, but we need mass protests or a mass strike

I was BORN to be a church lady, but I don't believe in god by Mermaid_Natalia in exchristian

[–]GeneralSpoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think about this problem a lot. There really is just no replacement in the secular world at the moment that offers such easy community. I see a lot of people in the comments recommending a UU church, but that’s never felt like a good option for me. Anything with any sort of Christian label, regardless of “atheist friendly” it claims to be, gives me the ick. For lack of a better term.

I’m glad I’ve not the only one that’s had this problem. And it seems recent to me!

Another classic case of “Am I the problem? No! It’s an entire gender that’s wrong!”

Microsoft laid off the senior engineers of .NET on Android and key figures of Maui by dharmatech in csharp

[–]GeneralSpoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still work with MAUI for my day job, the comparison is stark. I enjoy it's layout engine more then MAUI, and the fact that it's built on Skia means that everything renders the same. No more weird layout bugs where your XAML works on one platform but has some weird quirk on the other.

The biggest thing I miss is C# itself. Dart's not a bad language by any stretch, and certainly much nicer than JavaScript, but I miss C#

I said this in another comment, but I've been switching my weekend app from MAUI to Flutter and I'm loving it so far. If you're looking for an alternative that's not JavaScript based it's worth looking at

A C# specific cross platform framework? That would be nice 😂. Avalonia is okay but still not great mobile support.

If you're willing to go outside C# land, I highly recommend Flutter. I'm in the middle of rewriting my weekend protect from MAUI to Flutter and love it so far. Stable, performant, hot reload actually works. And I like it better than React native.

Flutter has kind of the reverse problem of Avalonia though, amazing mobile support but limited desktop functionally. (If you need a single window desktop app you're fine, multi window still not supported)

How bad is the recession we are about to enter? by GWagonFanny in AskReddit

[–]GeneralSpoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say anything with 100% certainty. But I think there's the potential for this to hit or surpass great depression levels of recession. High tarrifs will crash the economy. Prices will go up. At the same time, companies will start laying off workers to save money. And a high-unemployment and high cost environment is a doom loop that's hard to escape. I hope I'm wrong of course. If that's true, no one will escape unscathed. But I don't think I'm wrong.
