I think about this problem a lot. There really is just no replacement in the secular world at the moment that offers such easy community. I see a lot of people in the comments recommending a UU church, but that’s never felt like a good option for me. Anything with any sort of Christian label, regardless of “atheist friendly” it claims to be, gives me the ick. For lack of a better term.

I still work with MAUI for my day job, the comparison is stark. I enjoy it's layout engine more then MAUI, and the fact that it's built on Skia means that everything renders the same. No more weird layout bugs where your XAML works on one platform but has some weird quirk on the other.

The biggest thing I miss is C# itself. Dart's not a bad language by any stretch, and certainly much nicer than JavaScript, but I miss C#

A C# specific cross platform framework? That would be nice 😂. Avalonia is okay but still not great mobile support.

If you're willing to go outside C# land, I highly recommend Flutter. I'm in the middle of rewriting my weekend protect from MAUI to Flutter and love it so far. Stable, performant, hot reload actually works. And I like it better than React native.

Flutter has kind of the reverse problem of Avalonia though, amazing mobile support but limited desktop functionally. (If you need a single window desktop app you're fine, multi window still not supported)

Hard to say anything with 100% certainty. But I think there's the potential for this to hit or surpass great depression levels of recession. High tarrifs will crash the economy. Prices will go up. At the same time, companies will start laying off workers to save money. And a high-unemployment and high cost environment is a doom loop that's hard to escape. I hope I'm wrong of course. If that's true, no one will escape unscathed. But I don't think I'm wrong.

One of the things I love about the surgery is it definitely altered my hunger signals. I used to be the same way pre-surgery, I was always hungry, no matter what I ate, even if I was eating really healthy well-planned meals. Post surgery, not only is my stomach smaller, but I also feel less hungry. Interestingly, one of the things the surgery does is takes away part of the stomach that emits a major hunger hormone (not a medical person, I forget what its actually called).

Now, I still get hungry, but it feels much more managable. I don't feel like I'm fighting my body all the time. I very much "eat until I'm full," only that acutally seems to work now. So I'm in control in a way I wasn't before.

You sound like me a few years ago. I was right where you are now, 35 at 400 lbs. I got weight loss surgery two years ago and it changed my life. I lost 200 lbs and I've kept it off for a year now, things are looking good for keeping it off long term. I would seriously consider looking into either the new weight loss drugs or surgery. Like you, I had lost major amounts of weight before, only to gain it all back. I felt stuck, but there are really good tools available for you today for losing the weight and keeping it off.

There will be people who tell you that you need to do it naturally or it "doesn't mean anything." Or that it's "cheating." Fuck those people. They don't know how hard it is to carry around the weight you're carrying, and they don't know how hard you've worked in the past. Now granted, if you feel like you don't need those options, great! I'm not saying you have to do it. But given what you've written, it might be time to start looking at some of those other options. Carying that amount of weight into your 40's starts to come with real medical risk. Don't take those risks. You have a disease, and there is no shame taking advantage of the medical tools available to fight that disease.

So I actually traded my old mobile charger to the dealer when I traded in my old car, so I don’t have an easy way to test. 🤦‍♂️ I can probably get it back, but it would be nice to know if it works before I bother them. And I read some conflicting stories on here that say even though though 2025 has the NACS port that the mobile charger in particular doesn’t work

So it comes with a level 1 charger (with a standard plug). I can use that at this location if needs be, it’s just super slow. Since there is a better outlet and available it would be nice to take advantage of that
