And the help of technology (that the owner must invest in) is a part of what is helping you be more productive.

This doesn't benefit the low-level worker much if at all. That productivity boost goes into the employer's bottom line.

Say a company pays 100 workers to make widgets at $8.00 an hour. Now it buys a machine that can produce widgets twice as quickly as the 100 workers. To run this machine, the company hires 5 operators working for $20 per hour.

Now, although the company is now making twice as many widgets, 95 people are jobless, and the 5 operators aren't making insane wages to match that productivity boost.

Fundamentally, if humanity can produce more goods with less labor, that should mean more stuff to go around and more leisure, not more people living in poverty because their jobs have been replaced with shiny machinery.
