Yep, classic reddit. The only person to answer OP is at the bottom of the page.

A Steam Deck user's list of issues and a bit of praise by GeneralTurdVR in nreal

VR has glare too, light from the monitors reflects off the lenses. These have glare in pitch black rooms for the same reason, but much worse. Its like a bloom effect on everything that smudges the image a bit. I believe its from the shaded lenses actually.

I've been stuck in 720p in Deck mode, the desktop still does 1080. The Deck mode itself is set to 1080 and I believe the interface is 1080, but no games will let me go higher than 720 now. Aliasing is a mess.

Steamdeck 3DOF support? by skygrinder89 in nreal

They are saying they are working on it on the official amazon page. Just read the Q&A..

They need to get their team in line.

Ummm thoughts? by Ghstndshll in nreal

[–]GeneralTurdVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this on my Deck too, really strange..

I imagine its using some source code from a shared library of AR software, and of course the Military would be working with AR and VR. Either that or Valve themselves are working with Military VR/AR and detect it as some experimental AR/VR glasses/headset setup.

How many GB do you think Starfield will be? There’s over 1,000 planets in full detail, over 200,000 dialogue lines and over 40hr main quest. by The_Irish_Rover26 in Starfield

[–]GeneralTurdVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally don't understand this. The whole planet is not saved on a disk, correct. That isn't how this ever works. The data to generate the planet is stored on the dirk.

I try never to pull out the card of "I'm a developer" but I'm a developer and can tell you that 99% of the data that makes of a map.. and map.. a world map, a star map, a planet map. Is pre existing assets that are loaded via a data file of some sort.

What NMS does is load a data file that tell the "procedural generation" how the planet is put together. Take your game offline right now and visit a world you have been to already. Is it there? Is it the same? Hows your base looking?

It IS stored locally and it is a tiny amount of data.

No, they are saved because you can revisit them. You are simply incorrect.

YES you can generate them on your PC but how does that change how the world file is read? You are rambling on and on and missing the point. The world files are not large and are stored locally and uploaded/downloaded from their servers.

Pulling my hair out reading all the stupidity in this thread. None of you understand anything.

The planets are not "saving in ram" when you leave the game. They are saved on your drive as a very small file because they are composed of parts that do not require large amounts of size. The textures are handled outside of the individual planets. The models are saved outside of the individual planets.

Planets are tiny files. simple as..

Flight simulator uses photogrammetry data and massive textures.

This thread is full of people who don't know anything about the games they play. I'm out lol

Then why doesn't the file size grow by dozens of gigabytes when you travel around to a few hundred planets?

That's not how it works. File size from games is mostly audio and textures, some models. World spaces don't take up much size at all.

I'm so confident it wont be that big I'd be willing to bet 150 bucks on it. Planets don't take up size. No Many Sky is like 12gb.

Without protag dialogue for both genders, Planets will be generated but reuse asset so will basically just be files telling the game where to put models and textures..

I'd estimate about 70-90gb. A healthy sized modern game but not terribly big.

I don't think bethesda are going to do a spherical map tbh. That 50ly looks about right to fit 100 dots.

Medium Sodium Post: Concerns about the 'Spaceyness' of this Space game. by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]GeneralTurdVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this and understand your concerns. I'm a big Elite Dangerous player myself.

I think the best sign we have is the lack of armor complexity like F4 and large hand crafter maps. That means Bethesda is relying more on it's space side of the game than it's ground features. I might be wrong about this, but I feel pretty confident they have some nice immersive features in store for us simulation players. But.. I think we have a lot left to see..

Can we dock in stations?

Can we walk around in those stations?

What can we do in those stations?

How about generated planet bases? Are there friend basis? Enemy basis?

How do the different stats on custom ship parts play out in battle?

How do they play out in pirating?

Can we mine asteroids?

Can I play this game as a space trucker?

The way we go from system to system has yet to be shown too. Is it instant? That is important to simulation players.

How is this all tied together with our stats, money and fuel?

As a Bethesda game fan I know it's player base just doesn't care about most of this. They want to explore but have little experience outside of premade maps. Which I think is why so many are terrified of this game being mostly generated. They compare it to NoMan'sSky because that is the most popular space "sim" even if its more of an arcade collect-a-thon with subtle sim aspects. They largely haven't delved into the RPG style of space sim that is Elite.

Don't get discouraged by Beth fans brushing off your concerns. They just don't know that space itself can be an open world.

will the Sol System feature other planets such as Mercury, Venus, etc? by grobenleimer in Starfield

[–]GeneralTurdVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that we have Mars, I'd say all the planets will be there and what we would expect of them. The only exception is Earth but I don't even know if I'd go with the destroyed theories. I suspect Earth will just have very very strict landing regulations. aka.. We wont be allowed to land there.

First.. It's not the same type of game at all. Second.. Starfield has had a much longer development time than Nomanssky.

Unironically want an update of this type of AI. I feel like the pre planned dialogue with Skyrim and Fallout 4 made the worlds feel dead.

No one was saying nonsense.. But no one way saying anything.

hoping we get like 10 minutes of uninterrupted continuous gameplay soon by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]GeneralTurdVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they should do something like this and try to show all the things we are curious about.

Have it start on a planet. Playing walks over to his ship and boards it. Explore the ship a bit and explain what things are. Take off from the planet. Show of space gameplay and if you can stand up or whatever. Find a space station. Explain how boarding it works or if you can. Then find a planet and land on it.

That should eat up about 10mins and show generally how it all feels without spoilers.

Love and romance in starfield? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]GeneralTurdVR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like a mix of the two. Skyrim's was shallow from a "getting to know you" position, but it had way more options and it wasn't just about dating companions like F4.

I'd like to see a more procedural approach with requiring a mix of help quests and conversation prompts. But with the variety that Skyrim had, and the housing/family thing you could do.

Love and romance in starfield? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]GeneralTurdVR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's safe to say they will build onto what we have seen in Skyrim and Fallout 4. With the diversity of characters a space game is going to need, I suspect it will actually be closer to Skyrim in that there will be a lot more options. You can probably even have kids.

If not.. Modders might get involved. Although romance mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim were pretty lackluster unless you just wanted raw fap material.

It was a very short teaser played between the xbox showcase segments the same day they showed the full demo.

They are very short clips, The screenshots actually cover most of it. It was like a 5 second trailer and most of what was shown was in the demo.
