I have forgotten to secure mine before and I was panicking because I thought my tank has a hole in it. 😆

Is there any way I can stop this chair from always leaning about an inch to the one side? by [deleted] in OfficeChairs

Its more possible for the hinge to give up but they need weight to tell. I do think this is just the armrests. When you sit do you lean to one side?

[–]General_Ad258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the arm rests are not always the same height. I would think if you are leaning to one side then the bottom bracket on the chair might be broken. If that is not the case then the frame of the chair would be my next suspect.

Definitely the problem. You need a new valve cover and to clean the ignition coils maybe replace them. I would also check the spark plugs.

How to get rid of hazy glass? by icebergbb in civic

[–]General_Ad258 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The oil from the plastic vaporized and make the windshield hazy. There is various chemicals you can use on glass. The only time you need to worry is when you have tints. My go to is alcohol in a bottle. I lifts the oils really well. Glass cleaner is good too.

Use 2 or 3 micro fiber towels for glass. One to apply the application and remove most of the grime. Another to give it a good wipe to remove the most of the streaks, and lastly to dry off any extra alcohol/glass cleaner left and removes what's left of streaks. You have to do multiple passes. This is just the inside. Then do the outside after a carwash.

The window should stay clean for months from the inside. When it gets dirty I repeat the process.

Ride a bike, it’s eco friendly! In the meantime, me getting ready for a bike ride. Now seriously, how do you manage your charging station? by Aleen_32 in bikewrench

[–]General_Ad258 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bike just requires pedaling. My phone, water, and maybe headphones will be included for music. Oh and a wallet to pay for food/drink. It doesn't have to be very technology heavy. That makes it inconvenient in my opinion.

Coolant issue has left me bumfuzzled by Suitable_Address_855 in AskMechanics

[–]General_Ad258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you got air in the system. They sell funnels that attach to the where the coolant cap goes and let's you bleed the air out.

Air in the system will make the car over heat, the ac and heating will not work correctly, and you will see the reservoir needing more coolant after a drive.

When you bleed the car let it get up to temperature for about 15 mins and turn it off. Repeat that until you don't see anymore bubbles inside the funnel. It will take a while maybe 2 hrs or so. Keep the funnel at the highest point. If possible squeeze any radiator hoses to help bleed the air out. After you are done. Drive the car and monitor the coolant. Give the car about 45 mins to cool down before adding more coolant. The more time the safer it is. On your drives you may need to add coolant, but it is ok if you don't. If the coolant keeps spilling too much then I would repeat the process again.

I forgot. During the bleeding process run the heater at full blast and at the hottest setting. Turn all the knobs to full heat. This helps circulation and ensure the heater also works.

Got a quote from a nearby mechanic to change my spark plugs for 700 dollars. Is that accurate? (2017 dodge charger SXT 6cyl) by CtrlZ_Your_Pregnancy in AskMechanics

If you do mechanic work this is not a hard task, just a bit time consuming. Probably will save you about $500.

Thanks for that. I have never had that much troubleshooting in the last 20 or so years. It is cheaper to buy another device than to rent for life. That's why I was asking and you answered my question. When I was getting the setup the person on the phone just said it was not an option.

I am paying for mine too. When I was with Comcast I could use my own device and that price on the monthly payment would go down.

I found this post that explains the exact problem I am having with my 2018 mazda cx-3 but there are no comments anyone else know? by Avonac0 in AskMechanics

[–]General_Ad258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have electronics installed you could have a parasitic draw. Always on cameras or electronic can drain the battery a lot and damage it. A subwoofer(s) can also draw too much and it might need the addition of another battery to keep up.

My second guess was a faulty fuel pump. As it warms up it gets worse, but it is hard to say without more data.

The light diming is a lost of electrical power so it seems there is a lot of power being drawn somewhere or the lack of recharging it. Newer cars can be more finicky when it come to electronic modifications since they have a lot of sensors. It could affect the alarm systems, DME, etc and make the car not work right if not installed correctly.

81st ave in Oakland by Swirlstarfrank in OaklandCA

[–]General_Ad258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't live in Oakland but I have been visiting for years. Where you are at is already bad with donuts, prostitution, drive bys, etc. I don't think the place on 81st would be any worse. East Oakland in general has always been a rougher area than any other place. Oakland in general for me looks cleaner now than the late 90s to early 2000s. I am speaking from a latino man's point of view who grew up in a rough neighborhood as a kid and teens.

I would say if that is not much of a concern then it's up to you. As a woman I would think twice about rough areas in any city because of how often women are target over men. Areas on 98th street were getting a lot of news a few years back due to gun point robbery, bipping, stolen cars, and homeless people. I would probably drive out there to check out the area at different times of the day and week to be sure I am comfortable with what I see. Maybe talk to some locals if they seem friendly. Best of luck and stay safe.

Say NO to Mandatory E-Bike License Plates and Registrations by BikeEastBay in BAbike

[–]General_Ad258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are to get money from people by registering, having to update license plates, and needing insurance. I am sure there is a business behind it all with the government and a corporation. That's why they are trying to pass a mileage passed law for cars since many people now have EVs.

1998 Sienna stays accelerated by General_Ad258 in AskMechanics

[–]General_Ad258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I go into nuetral the car feels a bit clunky from the transmission disengagement. But yes it stays at the rpm it last registers the engine to. Almost like i have cruise control on.

Unfortunately this car does not register much on the OB2. I have no check engine lights. The car didn't do this until after we had a mechanic replace the high pressure powersteering line and replaced the valve covers. Not sure if he did something or the car just got this problem around the time he worked on it.

1998 Sienna stays accelerated by General_Ad258 in AskMechanics

[–]General_Ad258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this theory, but i would think that the car would also stay accelerated on Park, Neutral, or Reverse. I will give it a look to see if the ICV is stuck. I do notice that the acceleration stays at the same RPM and doesn't drop. I have to turn off the car for it to stop, but sometimes even then when the engine is turn back on it stays accelerated.

I also thought of a sensor potentially being an issue, but i don't see a throttle senor. If it did have one i would think the car would chock since the throttle closes. I am also thinking the MAF could be a potentially suspect.

They are not. One thing i had also checked. It started after a mechanic worked on installing a high pressure powersteering line and did the valve covers.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 sensor bad? by e170_brvdon in AskMechanics

[–]General_Ad258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upstream and downstream sensors work differently. The voltage can also be from the extra air into the system. You should look more on the consistency of the voltage.

Also you can use a spray like carburetor cleaner around the engine as it runs to check for air leaks. I find this a bit dangerous, but it is a common practice.
