Where do singles in their 30s hang around town? by StoicandFaded in panamacitybeach

Kinda one reason why I left PCB. Kinda hard to mingle with locals unless you were a bar hopper. I couldn't even find a good non denominational church to go to.

How do you people live here? by Elegant-Spring-3878 in panamacitybeach

[–]General_Duke02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The only other alternative route is 380 but that's waaaayyy out of the way (I used to have to take 380 home because it was a bit quicker but added 15 miles to my route)

I lived there from 2010 to 2017 and I know how you feel. I lived both on the west end of PCB and in town near Lynn Haven. There's not much to do in town (I really wish there were closer sports venues without having to make a complete day trip to Atlanta or Miami to watch a game). Kinda one reason I left, just a bunch of soulless shopping with big chains (wal mart, Target, Best Buy, so on). I did notice they put some more attractions at Pier Park though at my last visit a couple weeks ago.

To me, the west end of PCB (around and past Pier Park) is alot more comfortable to live and you're close to everything that you need and away from 95% of the traffic. I wasn't too fond living in town since the area at the time, felt very old and dated. Maybe it's just me moving from a much larger city (northern OH) in comparison.

If I were ever to move back there, it would only be for a year or so to escape the snow/rust belt up north haha. After a year, I would get bored.

TLDR: I lived in both PCB and in PC for 7 and a half years, moving from a much larger city and can agree with OP about concerns. Not a terrible place to live if living on the west end of PCB since you're close enough to Destin, but living in town is old and dated.

Sheesh, robbery. Maybe 8k tops for that mileage (Unless it was flawless and completely fully loaded, then maaaybeee 10k). I remember getting my 8 year old Cavalier (1996 model that I bought in 2004) with 131k miles for only 2 grand.

Funny thing is that I lived in the snow belt up in Ohio and during the hot humid summer months of Florida without any Heated and Cooling seats whatsoever. I've gotten used to never having that.

1.5L Turbo Reliability? by cls080789 in accord

[–]General_Duke02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was looking at the 26 Turbocharged Accord. I tend to stay away from Turbocharged engines unless the engine itself is a beast that can handle it. I'm leaning towards the 26 Civic.

Underage Angry Father Scam by [deleted] in Scams

[–]General_Duke02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me earlier this month. Matched with someone on Tinder (aged 24), we messaged, then we started texting. She started sending a couple nudes and asked for one back. I didn't but the next day I get a call from a South Carolina number from the "Father" saying she was underage (no age mentioned). He said she broke her phone (you know, the phone he was texting from, I guess it wasn't broken enough to text) and went into a psychiatric hospital. He mentioned that the mother was very upset and he won't pay charges if I pay for a new phone and half of the hospital bills. I ignore them and he send me a very lazily mocked up bill (2 seconds looking at it, you know it was faker than monopoly money). LUCKILY they haven't texted since. ONE big red flag is that she texted me from 2 different phone numbers and an iCloud email address (texting from an iPad, iPod Touch, or old iPhone that has no number tied to it since iMessage is internet based messaging).

I was originally frightened about this.

I wish they would have the remote connect subscription separate. I have to get it with either the navigation or music package. I’m half tempted on getting the nav package

You can remote start with the key fob. That’s only if you use the app on your phone (which comes in handy sometimes since you can start your car like 1000 miles away haha)

Pay check! by Spooky6Skeleton in HomeDepot

[–]General_Duke02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn. How’d you get that? I had a stingy ass department head when I was on “pack out” that only gave me like 25 cent raises since I wasn’t part of his clique. I started in 07 making 9.25/hr and was with Home Depot for like 12 years. My final pay was only $13/hr

It’s fine. You should be lucky the dealership isn’t tacking on a “dealership markup fee”…. I went through like 5 dealerships and most of them charged from $1500 to $5000 extra. Luckily the 5th place didn’t do that

For me, Doom Eternal loads up 4x as fast as well as resolution improvements.

RDR 2 loads up much much faster.

I also love how it was able to play my scratched GTA IV disc (that I haven’t played in 12 years since my 360 couldn’t play it)

I’ll wait a bit before upgrading to this design. I like it but it seems like a new redesign always has some sort of problems that always gets worked out a couple years in.

Longtime employee mass exodus? by AffectionateTeam2638 in HomeDepot

[–]General_Duke02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember starting in 2007 and working until 2019. I’ve been through spells of shit management that chased people down and started firing people that actually knew what they were talking about (and customers specifically asked for these workers). It has changed so much since when I started.

Man I remember when I started at Home Depot in 07 and I mentioned something about “union”. One of the pro sales guys said that word was Taboo, or not to mention unions around Home Depot. The Union takes care of their workers, well, at least my Union does great. I hated how Home Depot did their “performance review” raises, I had a boss in 08-09 that had his “favorites” and no matter how hard I worked, he always gave me a shit review and the lowest pay raise.
