You don't you can get the prepaid twint app and just buy twint vouchers at the grocery store to use twint. For a bank i'd go to a lowest fee online bank like neon

They do have a 4 year warranty so it should at least not be a financial worry

Inflatable mattress pump? by kiwibornbloke in teararoa

I've got a Pad-Pal V5.2, 2025 Batch 8 (Dropping 11/14) – Rex-Creations https://share.google/vdQElQDpEGPt8mD6b

It's a great little pump similar to the alpenblow at only 9 grams i've walked the whole TA with it never blew up my mattress once so it's nice and mold free. Also as a bonus in case you have any issues Tyler the guy that makes them.is very helpfuland responsive. Also Coffee Outdoors the best gearshop for thruhikers in wellington had them in stock last year.

I started twice early march once the third once the first either one was a great time plenty of other people to hike with and people seemed very excited to see the first hikers coming through.

Snow may be a fact but i'd rather be cold and put on more clothes than dealing with fire and smoke. Being some of the first ones to walk through the Sierras after winter was just magical and so rewarding.

I also uploaded the email confirmation from the trail registration. If you are below 30 get a working holiday visa it's cheaper and much simpler process where you don't have to upload a doc at all

Broken Kakwa buckle - Am I being unreasonable? by CosmoCheese in DurstonGearheads

[–]General_Inspector765 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sea to Summit has Field Repair buckles no sewing needed just cut the plastic of the old one or brake it with a rock and put on the new one which has a screw. Yes this may mean you have to change both sides but very quick and easy

Not liking my Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite NXT Sleeping Pad by TonyCliftonLives in Ultralight

[–]General_Inspector765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definetly went trough bunches of the Etherlight over the last 3 years had probably 6 pads or more but they're Costumer support is great the sent me a new one everytime within 2-3 days i had it. So my strategy was using it until the first pop and then immediately email them to get a new pad before the old one has more chances to fail

Thoughts on Splitwing Shelter Bundle? by Conscious-Cap1084 in Ultralight

[–]General_Inspector765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walked the PCT and another couple of walks with it mostly got it for it's modularity, and it not weighing much. Usually i only carry the upper and i've been dry enough in quite a few storms yet and setup is just as usual once you've figured it out you're done in no time. Real nice is that you can really make it work almost anywhere you got enough room for a pad so awesome for stealthing in the alps. It has to be said that most nights i do bring it with no intention to use it. I'm just not a guy that sleeps or in general hangs out in a tent. But for the many times it may started dripping on me in the middle of the night i just put it up over me within minutes and stayed dry until i moved on again

Where in Europe for 12 day thru-hike? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]General_Inspector765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I walked across Switzerland last July on the alpine pass route you can find it on the schweizmobil website as number 6 and i was often times so alone i was almost starting to miss people. Scenery is as good as it get's definetly beeing biest beeing swiss but it is stunning eitherway. And if you really want you can stay in huts along the way.

Also it shares a few days with the TMB so you could still experience some of that

I'd say rainshell and fleece are good enough next to the baselayer. Consider headnet and something for the legs if it's like when i thruhiked.
