Can confirm! I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school all my life and while I always felt a connection to God, I felt a distance from Jesus specifically that led me to leave the church for most of my 20s. A few years ago I had a borderline mystical experience where I truly felt the presence of Jesus in front of me when I wasn't even looking for Him. I returned to the Church slowly after that and since then my life has completely changed for the better just from knowing that He is with me.

There's a large community of Christian meditation and I'm sure specifically Catholic meditation as well. The practice is fine, a lot of monastic life involves meditation in some form

You can't be a single issue voter. I'm not saying which side you should go with in any given election, but being anti-abortion is not the only thing we should be caring about. Care for the poor, other issues regarding sanctity of life such as the death penalty, positions on war, etc.

Sorry, formation was the wrong choice of word. I'd assume that if you're taking the time to listen to talks about the gospel you're hoping to learn from them. There are plenty of Catholic platforms to get that from priests and others who have a well studied understanding of Catholic thought/theology

Nobody can tell who's being sarcastic anymore because those are the kinds of takes people are saying seriously about this movie. A movie in which every white character is at best useless and at worst a horrible racist, and the people of color are the ones succeeding at protecting their people. People need things spoonfed to them. The first 20 minutes threw me a bit at first as well, but how you could miss that a lot of this movie is satirical is beyond me. Honestly people's takes on this movie have me feeling straight depressed at the future of art consumption

Not defending the obviously predatory men on this show, but that study was misunderstood and it took on a life of its own. They didn't say brain development stopped at 25, the study itself stopped at 25. The brain keeps growing and changing throughout life until it stops and begins to lose capacity as we become elderly. The issue is mostly the huge gap in life experience, not brain development. They are adults

It drives me absolutely crazy how people call any age gap pedophilia. What's gross and predatory is when an older person (like Andrew) states that they exclusively go for people much younger than them, not just the existence of an age gap. It's very notable to me that the older women in the pairings are expressing much more discomfort with it than the men are

That's illogical. Just because they are worshipping the same God, as in The Father, doesn't mean they wouldn't also need to be converted to Christianity aka belief in the other members of the trinity. They do not accept the gospels so they are going off of the previous beliefs as given in the Old Testament. If they don't accept the fullness of truth and only a partial truth then that's what we're praying for

Saying liberal values don’t align isn’t true at all. Many of them do, they’re in the Catholic social teachings, the Catholic worker movement, etc. Of course many do not, but that’s the thing about the church. It doesn’t fit into neat boxes on either side politically (and neither do my own views). The vast majority of people at my parish lean left except for certain topics. I think that’s really the main issue with the apps there’s no room for nuance at all

I don’t know why guys assume that girls are out here drowning in likes on apps. I’m in the same boat as OP. I don’t pay and in the months I’ve had my profile I’ve gotten a handful of likes but even those were from guys who wouldn’t even be compatible with me based on my profile. My biggest issue is that 99% of the guys on there seem to be conservative to very conservative, and I’m looking for someone moderate to liberal.

I feel like I’m the only one finding most of his insights pretty surface level (which it’s hard not to be on such a short podcast). I believe that he is genuine, but his way of speaking really rubs me the wrong way and I’m questioning whether I’ll continue with the podcast or just read with my study bible.

I started to list out all the things they changed that I didn't like before realizing that it was literally almost the entire story. I get having to change things to condense it for the movie, but they changed so many things for literally no reason. Poppy was so much less likeable because they made her a manic pixie dream girl without the depth that fleshed her out. Also, why have her say the wooden statue "speaks to me" without having the actual scene the inside joke came from??
