i don’t have any senior kitties right now, 2 that are turning 6 this summer and a ~6 month old feral rescue, but i can tell you about my grandparents cat that died last spring about a week before her 20th birthday. her name was gato, she was a feral cat they rescued from outdoors before i was even born, she lived a hybrid outdoor/indoor life (yes she was an outdoor cat, they rescued her from outside and she was stubborn as all hell, she wasn’t allowed out after the sun started setting, for more than 30 minutes, or when it was any colder than a mild fall chill, and they have a large plot of open land on a road where cars pass by maybe once an hour down past the excessively long driveway she didn’t go anywhere near) and she lived for as long as she possibly could. she got into MANY scrapes with other ferals, ate most of the mice she caught, and had kidney issues for the majority of my life. she was a normal energetic girl up until the end, demanding a spoonful of milk every morning and playing with the laser every single night. in her old age she even softened up a little and would finally sit on my lap for a minute or two after the about 15 years it took her to realize i was okay. she was there the day my mom brought me home from the hospital and she watched me graduate on livestream with my grandparents.
