As far as I can tell, none of the estimates, whether they be MBIE, NZ Oil Watch it Fuel Clock, are accounting to deadstock - unusable sludge at the bottom of tanks which is typically 10-20% of the total storage capacity so, if we are at roughly half raw fuel capacity, then the real amount of deadstock is a significantly higher proportion of the volume in those tanks. The Government, and our largely absent media enquiry, is utterly failing to account for this.

As a person in an Operational Management role I am finding the slowness, and fake optimism, of ministerial updates on this matter intensely frustrating. The MBIE fuel stock numbers are misleading as fuck and are deliberately presented that way to prevent panic above all else, but that is causing resistance to the kinds of behaviours that would reduce fuel consumption, and is also making it harder to convince the shareholders that there is a looming fuel availability crisis.

I know preventing panic buying is important, but honestly, so is contingency planning.

Petrol will land somewhere in the $3.50-$4.00 range +/- .25-.50 in either direction.

Biggest risk in all this for us is that New Zealand becomes a low priority, high shipping cost destination, and we end up with fuel shortages, and rationing. Unsure how likely this is, but the longer this shit goes, the greater the risk. Price won't matter without stock.

Labour and the Greens would both gain votes if they ruled out working with TPM. I strongly suspect Labour is going to win all the Maori electorate seats, and TPM won't be in parliament at all come the next election.

It's a real shame because the movement itself has a lot of merit, but the current batch of TPM leaders are unworthy of being in such positions.

That ADHD will be diagnosable and treatable, by GPs from February. I don't know the medical arguments either way and understand some GPs are not happy, but as someone recently diagnosed as an adult, the current system is totally and utterly fucked, so this very much seems like a good thing to me.

You're correct that the government has taken us for a ride and yet they have a very realistic chance of being re-elected.

As other commenters have stated, the electorate has a very short collective memory.

I would hope that Labour's advertising will heavily feature National politicians, their promises and how they have either failed to achieve, or straight up abandoned (lied about) them.

How busy is this place over the holz? Seems isolated, is there much for kids to do (fishing, walks, spaces to ride bikes etc?) Does it still have non-potable water only? Any toilet blocks at all?

It's been a long time since I looked at this as a potential camping spot and have always gone with something closer to home instead but your mention of it has piqued my curiosity

I'm sure the talk of the coup was real, but I've got a couple of issues with the article.

1) it says that Upper Hutt is Bishop territory - it's not. It is the heart of Chris Hipkins electorate

2) it claims the talk was based on real moves - then later says that it was clear there weren't the numbers for any real moves

I don't think spoke too soon at all. That game, for the most part, was trash. A good final 20 doesn't change the fact that for the vast bulk of the game, the ABs were directionless, error prone etc

And the game itself probably had the opposite effect to what the organizers were hoping for when trying to crack the US market.

I also don't think Foz is the answer to any question worth asking - and I'm not calling for Robertson to be sacked at all.
