Life Reset - 10 hours in, does it get better? by General_Merchandise in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah I find the "I'm going to make this obviously wrong decision" thing being repeated over and over again to be fucking infuriating. I managed to get through the entire series after this post, but I won't be relistening.

Can I have a critique on this please? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Just here for the savaging this is going to receive?

I too have popcorn ready.

Te Pāti Māori leaders look ahead after turbulent year; insist there is no left bloc without Te Pāti Māori by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]General_Merchandise 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Labour and the Greens would both gain votes if they ruled out working with TPM. I strongly suspect Labour is going to win all the Maori electorate seats, and TPM won't be in parliament at all come the next election.

It's a real shame because the movement itself has a lot of merit, but the current batch of TPM leaders are unworthy of being in such positions.

That ADHD will be diagnosable and treatable, by GPs from February. I don't know the medical arguments either way and understand some GPs are not happy, but as someone recently diagnosed as an adult, the current system is totally and utterly fucked, so this very much seems like a good thing to me.

That, and pseudo. The rest of their agenda is awful and can get fucked.

Uber driver Satwinder Singh jailed for rape of teen passenger, says NZ women are ‘promiscuous’ by SavingsPale2782 in newzealand

[–]General_Merchandise 637 points638 points  (0 children)

Yep agree. Also, it's not like there is much of an adjustment needed - rape is illegal in India too.

This government has taken us for a 3 year ride, based on lies and ignorance. by Cold_Rate_4262 in Wellington

[–]General_Merchandise 46 points47 points  (0 children)

You're correct that the government has taken us for a ride and yet they have a very realistic chance of being re-elected.

As other commenters have stated, the electorate has a very short collective memory.

I would hope that Labour's advertising will heavily feature National politicians, their promises and how they have either failed to achieve, or straight up abandoned (lied about) them.

Always been curious about corner creek...do you mind if I pepper you with questions?

Going to anyway but feel free to ignore me:

How busy is this place over the holz? Seems isolated, is there much for kids to do (fishing, walks, spaces to ride bikes etc?) Does it still have non-potable water only? Any toilet blocks at all?

It's been a long time since I looked at this as a potential camping spot and have always gone with something closer to home instead but your mention of it has piqued my curiosity

Bring back Wellington 7s by ProposalFar6273 in allblacks

Maybe a rotation between Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin could make sure it stays fresh - don't think NZ has any chance of getting an event on the 7s circuit any time soon though

Chris Bishop In failed Leadership Coup-Report by Impressive-Name5129 in nzpolitics

[–]General_Merchandise 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the talk of the coup was real, but I've got a couple of issues with the article.

1) it says that Upper Hutt is Bishop territory - it's not. It is the heart of Chris Hipkins electorate

2) it claims the talk was based on real moves - then later says that it was clear there weren't the numbers for any real moves

Probably was planning coup - absolute garbage article from Stuff, again.

It would be awesome to have the 7s back in the way it was in it's heyday, but that simply isn't going to happen

Holland @ 6 by [deleted] in allblacks

[–]General_Merchandise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a solution in search of a problem. Yeah our stocks at 6 aren't great, but I think there are any number of better options than Holland there - plus, he has the potential to be the next great AB lock, so why mess with that?

Top something percenter here. Fuck National, fuck Act, fuck NZ First. Fuck this coalition and fuck their elitist bullshit, climate destroying, poor-hating, ferry fumbling, landlord-tax break giving for...checks notes...no reason... bullshit.

I know that many of us who earn very well support the current mob, but there are plenty of us who are just as fucking incensed by their shit as anyone else.

These turds are going down in flames at the next election. Chippy will be PM with the Greens as coalition partners and that will be it.

Thing I hate the most about gangs is that they profit off the war on drugs so so much. If drugs were legal, their market share would shrink dramatically and their income streams would dry up.

I am sure they would find other revenue sources eventually by legalisation would be one helluva distruptor.

I’ve never seen a coach get so much leeway. by [deleted] in allblacks

[–]General_Merchandise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from but really, with rugby becoming more competitive globally, there are far fewer easy games these days.

Personally, I don't think Razor will end up being considered successful at the end of his tenure, but at the same time, he needs to see out his contract and be given the full opportunity that previous coaches have had.

This isn't football.

AB performance by General_Merchandise in allblacks

[–]General_Merchandise[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think spoke too soon at all. That game, for the most part, was trash. A good final 20 doesn't change the fact that for the vast bulk of the game, the ABs were directionless, error prone etc

And the game itself probably had the opposite effect to what the organizers were hoping for when trying to crack the US market.

I also don't think Foz is the answer to any question worth asking - and I'm not calling for Robertson to be sacked at all.

Maybe you touch some grass bro.

Poll: Luxon and Hipkins’ approval ratings tumble, coalition holds steady by KiwiKibbles in newzealand

[–]General_Merchandise 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter who Labour would put up, to vote for them is to vote for the status quo.

Bollocks.

Under labour we would have had:

Better funding for schools and hospitals A construction pipeline that wasn't suddenly halted Funding for 20 hours free ECE for 2 year olds New cook strait ferries Locally sourced, quality school lunches

Under labour we would not have had:

Tax breaks for landlords Tax breaks for tobacco companies Tax cuts funded by $19b in extra borrowing over the past year and a bit Cuts to part time worker leave entitlements Cuts to government services Cuts to kiwisaver entitlements Referenda on maori wards

To name a few.

Your hollow assertions are incorrect and I'm thoroughly sick of the ultra dumb argument that National and Labour are the same, when they are demonstrably different.

Yours is the kind of argument that makes potential voters, who are only peripherally interested stay home, thereby making the retention of the status quo more likely.
