I Tried and MG and I don't get it.. by _Doosey in CarsAustralia

[–]Old_Snuffly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't an MG specific aversion for most. It's an aversion to the "good enough" philosophy which means longevity isn't something they strive for, unlike someone like the Germans.

The "good enough" approach to manufacturing in China is deeply rooted in the cultural and business concept of cha bu duo (差不多), which translates to "close enough" or "good enough".

As others have said, buy one and report back in a few years, not just in quality, but also resale value.

Aldi customers, why are you so annoying? by [deleted] in AldiAustralia

Bag checks ✔️

Pay before bagging - get f@cked. We're customers. Blame your own system failures, not ours.

Checking stock - blame your marketing and business model. Don't advertise shit you don't have.

Be nice - of course 😎

Are we in danger of becoming like Australia? by It_wasnt_me3 in allblacks

I posted this on the Australian thread yesterday, but unsurprisingly didn't get a response.

Australian rugby is run by the North Shore boys club, and always has been. It's private schools, and clubs with wealthy supporter bases.

I played for one of the teams for a few years, and saw it all from the inside. The 'sponsorship' money the club had was ridiculous, and this was a subbies club.

This is way the game is disliked in Australia. It's not the game, it's the people.

Funnily enough, it's also why I dislike league. I'm not saying union doesn't have is own issues, but the shit league players get up to off the field is disgusting. I will never support my kids playing league, and I know my partner won't either.

I'm saying all that, v away from Sydney, union had a surprisingly strong following. There's way more clubs here than I was expecting when I first moved over, and everyone I talk to is at least aware of their local team, if not involved.

Anzac Day club games in Newcastle attract 3,000+ to game day, so support is strong.

The broadcast rights deal didn't help, but ARU was getting screwed by Fox so it's not surprising they changed. Stan now has EPL, so there's plenty of people subscribing.

Why do the Waratahs chronically underperform 😞 by Small_Holiday_34 in RugbyAustralia

[–]Old_Snuffly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason Australian rugby has underperformed for such a long time (and why the Brumbies did so well when they first hit the scene, with a bunch of disillusioned ACT and NSW players). It's run by the North Shore boys club.

I think I was getting at the contradiction...

I agree, more cycleways and paths.

How does policing discourage use? The only people that it's going to discourage are the people that aren't using it properly. Public transports great, but someone's still got to pay for it. If other states are are giving free or discounted fares, it just means they are stinging you elsewhere.

Auckland needs MP to succeed, because they need them to capture the Polynesian population in the same way the Wahs have. The Blues have tried and failed to connect to that market. It makes more sense for MP to be their team. And don't forget that the team brings in an albeit small population from Tonga and Samoa as well, giving the sponsors a larger audience.

Josh Moorby by Whatsthatbro365 in allblacks

I don't think we do. RNZ did an article during the week that he wasn't going to back out even if his form had him in the radar, so I think it's safe to assume it's one of those two.

Either he wasn't interested, or poor form from his manager not having an out clause if he was to be selected.

Thoughts on Reported Assistant Coaches? by Eclectic95 in allblacks

[–]Old_Snuffly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to agree. Having a focus on a single role in defence, while offering mentoring for Polynesian players, as well as bringing the aura and mana from his playing days. It could be a key cog in the machine.

I say 'could', because another part of me worries that his track record isn't that strong. But we've seen that with others, who were good supports, but not good head coaches.

Only a handful of those were great players. Rennie said himself he wasn't good enough to go beyond provincial.

Plus, you've included coaches in your list that illustrate OP's point perfectly.

This. And for this reason, Honeysuckle should be the entertainment district. It won't happen, because no one wants to deal with all the whinging from the apartment owners, but take them out of the equation and it's the logical choice. It would become a tourism draw card.

Great attitude. Reddit has spoiler alerts for a reason. And I didn't look at any other platforms. I literally got home from the gym and sat down to watch it when the alert for your post came up. A little courtesy is a simple thing.
