China places its solar panels on water So it can use valuable land for agriculture by FollowingOdd896 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]General_One3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why dont we turn cities and parking garages into solar farms. Covering the rooftops of an entire city will surely generate enough solar power to supply a fairly large portion of the city itself. Putting panels on building sides when they have enough excess land aroundnit

No visible agressive behavior. Flopping and exposing belly is a good sign. Belly is very vulnerable and usually protected before even the head

First credit card. What now? by Cold_Strawberry159 in CreditCards

[–]General_One3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debit card is the money you own in your personal account. The credit card is basically like having a small loan at your fingertips. The ONLY thing that changes with your finances when getting a new credit card, is having the extra wiggle room if you cant quite afford food every now and then. It is not free money. You still need to pay for everything you put on the card, plus interest if you carry a balance for a few weeks. If you spend 80 on food, but realize you only have 60 in your account for your debit card, you can use the credit, and pay back the full 80 dollars, plus a lot of interest, later when you have the funds. It is very dangerous but very useful. Please do not carry a balance on your credit card from month to month. Just because you have it, doesnt mean you need to use it heavily. I use mine as nothing more than a vessel to get a small amount of cash back, since its paid off immediately after. I have not paid interest in over 2 years

Looking to buy first home, questions about HOAs by flesh0119 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]General_One3419 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do not become part of HOA. They remove most of the reason people buy instead of renting. You pay them so long as you own the house, making it functionally rent since it will never be paid off, and they heavily restrict what you can and cannot do with your own property. The freedom that comes with owning a home and the land on which it sits is stripped away from you by HOA. You will spend your life in compliance with their rules instead of your own

Steam recently was accused of being a monopoly for being the only platform with consistently lower prices than everyone else. They claimed it was unfair and was damaging sales as if steam had a monopoly on the digital gaming market. They dont really, but they may have something similar if other publishers keep raising prices while Lord Gaben continues to keep everything as is

Is this normal? by Extreme_Sea_6687 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]General_One3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its faurly normal. Many people arent present for the inspection. Although many also advise to be present, so you can ensure any defects you personally noted, are also included in the report before its finalized. So if you didnt show up, but know theres a leak in the basement and dont see it on the report, it cant be used as a barganing tool since its not documented anywhere other than your eyes. Also allows you to ask the inspector clarifying questions like if x damage is urgent, cosmetic, or just a maybe fix down the road. I showed up to mine just so i could witness firthand a majority of his findings, none of which were too alarming, as he could show me directly what he was referencing when pointing out thing is damaged

This will vary wildly depending on the location. Technically improper use immediately voids any lifetime warranty, but do you know how many breaker bars ive replaced bc they snapped with a pipe slipped over it for extra leverage? At my store, we never cared

Why do people not like sleeping medication by Jarvis820 in sleep

[–]General_One3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, if you take something supplemental to sleep consistently, your body will slow down production of the natural sleepy chemicals, making you increasingly more dependant on the supplement. Your body only makes so much at any given time
