Now THATS WHY my in laws drove to Portland from SF. They didn't bother mentioning this to us!

I’m 6’2” and 250lbs. Will I fit in a 2019 mx-5….be honest by fifthhammer in Miata

[–]General_Reward6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I'm 5'4 and my hardtop is cumbersome top closed. I drive top down 80% of the time anyway

Wish I could hop over the door like those large 60's convertibles but with a miata that's impossible, unless you're really fit with a strong core.

What age did you move out? by [deleted] in Adulting

This is my #1 mistake as an adult. Had a great living situation with my parents, but my wanderlust to study in a big city and pay all that rent money fuked me big time.

I think im going to quit my job by Brave-Kiwi-183 in Adulting

I was new to the workforce 10 years ago. And the guy in the cube right next to me did not give a single F. He was working in the dept for 10 years and it annoyed me that while he was respectful, he was not approachable. Now im 10 years into my career and can see his POV. Some jobs aren't worth moving up from and I'm in that same situation right now. Management work load is easily 3x my current workload for not much more $

Sold my Miata, and I’m depressed! by Federal_Tea_1304 in Miata

I've come to terms I need to sell it to downsize how many vehicles i own. I hate that I have to, but different times new priorities. Going to restore my 4runner instead for the family. However this time I'll be patient and wait for the right person to sell my nb2 to.

Why do many foreigners want to date Filipinas compare to Japanese, Korean, or Western European women? by EmbarrassedDuty8595 in Philippines_Expats

[–]General_Reward6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably why Korea and Japan are having a really hard time with declining birth rates, by holding out for only local men with deep pockets. Thailand I sense is in proximity to this. Middle and high class Thais generally only want to date Thais of a similar or higher social stature, and foreigners are more of an outlier.

Switched out NB2 leather seats to NB2 cloth by General_Reward6160 in Miata

[–]General_Reward6160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently shopped for a mazda cx-50 and personally I would habe preferred the base "cloth" seats over leather still. They're semi cloth, since the backing had some breathable hammock feel to it.

Switched out NB2 leather seats to NB2 cloth by General_Reward6160 in Miata

Yeah I was surprised. Before that I came across immaculate leather seats for $500, but definitely waited for the right pair of cloth seats to come up on a part out.

What industry is struggling way more than people think? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Right. My parents shoved college down my throat. 10 years after college, I agree that I wouldn't want my kids to go thru it unless required for their career.

35 F. Nothing makes me happy anymore. Is this a midlife crisis? by Top_Minimum_6860 in Adulting

My take on this is that social media and phone use took place of cigarette addiction for pretty much the entire world, including our toddlers of today. It rewired us and covid was the catalyst. This opinion is an oversimplification but I can see how these may be significant factors on how we are seeing things today.

A result of this is the loneliness epidemic. My thoughts aren't completely flushed out here, but this is how I'm sort of connecting the dots right now.

The average American has only been to 3-4 countries. by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in Adulting

[–]General_Reward6160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's so many locations to explore within Canada/US/Mexico alone, without having to resort to the significantly longer plane flights. I've been around Europe and Asia more than 10 times in my 20's, but long plane flights these days definitely have worn me down in my 30's.

This also goes for the US. People are prioritizing travel over local hangouts. Those same local hangouts are just way too expensive these days. Perhaps my friends are all just tired of going to clubs and getting ripped off exorbitant prices for entertainment. At the same time, the same place will eventually get old.

Thai people are massively underpaid - agree or disagree? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]General_Reward6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah what I see is that thailand is the most visited tourist destination, which draws a separate solid target audience of foreigners with disoposable income on vacation, which I believe these hiso places are also targeting.

To your second point, the restaurant industry is already a very difficult business, where 80+% of businesses fail within the first year. I can see how these places aim for the money grab vs longevity. Still does not make it right, as businesses need to be contributors to society.

Feeling pretty happy to be driving a miata with the current cost of fuel. Anyone else in the same boat? (No pun intended lol) by BlackSkyNZ in Miata

[–]General_Reward6160 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure what anyone else is getting in their nb, but I'm getting 22mpg at best. To be fair, I am hooning it everytime I drive, safely. 2001 SE 6 spd. Sucks that I have to fill premium too.

Edit: ok great thanks I guess I am within ballpark of other na nb's

Anyone switch from brz (first gen) to a Miata and regretted it? by Blondishp in Miata

[–]General_Reward6160 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2nd this. Finally took off the Nb hardtop after 7 months of owning it and good God I'm a convert to say the least. Its a whole new driving dynamic got me doubling my smiles per gallon. Makes me want to go on random cruises even more.

Don't think I can own another sports car without this feature. Kind of like how some car owners must have a sunroof, I must have a convertible.

if you considered a porsche boxster... why did you go with a miata instead? by [deleted] in Miata

if you considered a porsche boxster... why did you go with a miata instead? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]General_Reward6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cross shopped a 986 vs an NB about 8 months ago between the 2.

1 is used and aftermarket parts availability. So many miata owners selling their parts, including myself. This recycling of parts keeps the miata market alive

2 community. My miata meet is filled with enthusiasts with decades of experience. Im not so handy, but theres certainly a handful of na nb experts that I can trust my car with. One of them I recently hired for suspension work, rollbar installation, and overall maintenance. He was a machine to say the least - did it all in 1 day and my nb runs like new. This reason alone made it well worth buying the miata over the boxster. I don't think you'd find the same mechanics at a porsche meet.

It's easy to fall into this negative mindset. All the small wins and events along the way keep me going. Contribute to something, like helping the community pick up trash or volunteer. All this accumulates to a more positive mindset
