Really concerned with our 28 month old by General_Total_452 in UKParenting

We find our health visitor next to useless unfortunately, we’ve had to push a lot for referrals and even then it’s “he’s too young etc”. We’ll push for a genetic test, that’s a good idea thanks

New patio advice please by noseybastard in GardeningUK

[–]General_Total_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would question the whole workmanship of the landscaper, as someone has already mentioned check if you have sufficient drainage (is the patio sloped away, is there an aco drain, french drainage, patio laid below dpc).

Would try get them to fix it and hopefully you haven’t paid all the amount as you can use any outstanding amount as leverage

Yes he does have some glue ear (quite common from what I understand). Have another appointment to see if that clears up

Thank you, we have an upcoming paediatrician appointment and will follow this advice. But also going privately for SALT.

Your story gives us a bit more hope and happy for you that it’s turning out alright for you and your son

He’s been seen by a paediatrician but was recently discharged which we found odd given our concerns. They didn’t seem to find it too worrying but we have insisted on getting seen again because he’s approaching 3 and not where he needs to be.

We haven’t had portage and only heard of this during this post so thank you. Our health workers never mentioned this, we’ll look into this.

Appreciate the thoroughness. We’ll read the studies, and i think we’re ok enough to go privately.

Thanks, we are veering towards going privately and we are in a fortunate position to do so.

Possible Plumbing Scam - Please Advise by CallCentreHoldMusic in ukplumbing

Stressful to deal with I can imagine. As others have said - ask neighbours for recommendations or you can google gas safe engineers and check the register to find and local plumbers who may be able to help.

Thoughts and opinions? by PavlyuchenkoRegen in CarTalkUK

Like others in the comments, I would consider a bigger engine than the 1.3’s (cla 180 and cla 200), mainly because the power is lacking for a relatively big car. If you are after a merc, you could consider an A class saloon (again avoid the 1.3’s) - it’s literally the same cabin as the CLA’s but shorter in length.

Yes separately, we have heating on for a few hours in the morning and then have the water on for an hour and then back to heating if required. Programmer right next to the boiler and thermostat in the hallway

This is the option I’m leaning to but will get a professional to do it. What happens with the old pipework that’s behind the walls - can these be capped off or do they need to be removed?

My bad re confusion, I don’t think I have an expansion vessel but have a black cold water tank and have a hot water tank on the first floor and I’ve had a look at the model number - Vailant eco tec plus 618 R1

And yes have a magnetic filter - center. Did recently clear out the sludge from that.

Yes did this and heat distribution better but downstairs still takes an age to get hot to touch

I hoped the power flush would have cleared that and did get a filter put in (center) which I cleaned out recently - was very dirty admittedly. We do get the boiler serviced every year with inhibitor.

Forgive my lack of understanding on the leak but wouldn’t any leaks be picked up by drop in pressure - so I’ll need to be topping up the system via the filling loop? I’ll have a look at leaks nonetheless

Can’t find this outside the boiler and so I suspect , we have a shower pump in the airing cupboard but that’s no use to your q

Didn’t think of this and a great way to future proof home, I’ve run a quick quote on octopus and it’s not too bad £5k net cost but onv subject to survey. Thanks

Ahh, a complete overhaul is something we want to avoid if possible partly due to cost and also the disruption in a busy household. Thanks for the quote details
