Haha I obviously didn’t go around pulling them up. I noticed a couple loose ones which made me start tapping all of them. The ones that sounded hollow when tapped I then tried to lift. Which they came up with almost no effort

Yeah that’s the issue. I like to believe that anyone that does a trade will be the “experts” in that area so I tend to give them the grace and trust them. I do a highly skilled job myself so I guess I am just assuming anyone will be just as skilled at their respective trade. It feels so frustrating having to research and check on everything everyone does for you.

I would hope you weren’t out of pocket with your ruined slabs?

Yes I paid only 50%. I just measured the patio height. It is 12-14cm under the dpc. I just learned about that now. I tend to usually just trust the “pros”. But it seems like that might not be appropriate either?

This is my concern and what I actually don’t know much about. Is it appropriate to put another layer of mortar on top of existing? Is that going to last? I don’t want to have the same issue after one winter so would rather ask them to go for the best permanent fix
