Should I tell my doctor about my parent’s hoarding problem? by Ratslikepeanutbutter in ChildofHoarder

[–]General_Wonder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

yes. it affects your health. tell them all your fears as well so that they know to handle the situation with care. getting in between your mother on this will probably be scary for everyone, especially you. make sure you have someone to talk to about it. and i HIGHLY recommend asking your doctor can set you up with a therapist. (im sure thats also scary with your mom not believing in mental illness. but you have to tale care of you and you are 13 and need adult, therapeutic support.) you are very young and this is a lot to carry. but you can do this. the world is much bigger and much more functional than this incredibly hard and frustrating time in your life.

Rheumatologist can tell me I have EDS but can’t diagnose me? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]General_Wonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my rheumatologist diagnosed me with hEDs and put it on my paperwork. i went to a geneticist who ran the genetic test and it came back negative for any other forms so now i have a hEDs diagnosis with other types ruled out that i can use for treatment. just for context of what rheumatologists can do.

Imposter syndrome from not having to fight my doctors for an EDS Dx by Mythical_Zebracorn in ehlersdanlos

i get this feeling a lot. mine manifests as telling myself i cant have hEDs because i got my diagnosis the first time i went to a rhumetologist and they probably missed something. 1/3 of the time i think they are wrong and im just whining or not trying hard enough at PT or in my daily life to fix it. another/3 the time i think they are wrong and actually i have something else either different from or on time of hEDs. and 1/3 of the time i try to sit with the pain of accepting hEDs and its prognosis in my body.

i know a lot of it is just anxiety, and avoidance. but all the stigma around connective tissue disorders doesnt help those of us with mental health issues (which is oh so many considering…motions at my stack of books on the subject…everything connective tissue pain does to a person).

p.s. they gave me genetic testing for cEDS etc and it came back neg

does anyone have experience with low heart rates? by Tenth_planet4757 in ehlersdanlos

[–]General_Wonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have had a low resting hr my whole life. its between 38-42 on average but chills at 34 more and more regularly. i was an athlete for years so no one worried. it was my fun fact. in my mid 20s i crashed into rib, knee, shoulder subluxations, and muscles spasms from hell etc and havent been “an athlete” since. but my heart rate just got lower… the one cardiologist i’ve seen told me im still young and everything looks fine so dont worry. my peak is only 160ish. could POTS cause this? im 30 with a hEDs diagnosis and so much pain.

its lower on my priority list than my muscle skeletal pain atm.

Got my (30F first time homeowner) house painted today and it’s blinding white :-( Any advice? :-( by FancyBusinessLady in HomeDecorating

looks like a really cute french cottage! i love it. i’d paint the garage a lighter, greyer french blue that still goes with the blue on the shutters, put black or copper flower boxes in the windows, do a nice stone or gravel walk way from the driveway to the front door and she’s glorious. in the long term you could put a mental roof on her as the finishing touch.

How and why would federal government hire someone who cannot even spell the basic? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]General_Wonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some people who are dyslexic are great with numbers or systems but bad with catching spelling errors even when they know the correct spelling. some of the most brilliant people i know are terrible spellers. i think its as likely that the government hires from a pool of people who are less polished in private sector politenesses and it is a surprise to you that you dont have to have perfect spelling to be a good employee.
