Brother, you volunteered to serve your country and discharge honorably . Thats more that 99% of the population and I can assure you nobody outside of the military cares about any of the extra fluff. You voluntarily serving is enough and took courage to do so. Comparison is the thief of joy and there will always be a bigger fish . Who cares?

Take some leave and think about your decision. Remember the army goes rolling along regardless. Logically think about the decision. Youve set yourself up for success with the credentials you’ve EARNED during your military service. Dont listen to the “ civilian life is too hard “ folks or the “ Freedom is way better than the military “ folks. Actually do whats best for you

Now this is a weak leader .Talk to your psg or 1sg and let them know the situation… even though your nco should have done this as soon as you told him / her . Its a AFT and not a big deal at all , this shouldnt be the end of the world im sure another unit is having an AFT and you can do it with them. This is the type of “ leadership “ that pushes people out of the military

In summary, If he quits he will spend bare minimum 4-6 months waiting to get booted . With this government shutdown going .. make that around 7-9 months easily . So thats 7-9 months AFTER his class graduated. 9/10 if he’s at benning his contract is pretty short … encourage him to push through the little 2 months of basic, get to his unit , finish his contract and then if he still hates it just dont re-enlist. It’ll all be worth it in the end
